Passatempo homers, nears record

Wausau, WI – The Wisconsin Woodchucks (30-39, 17-17 Second Half) dropped the second of their two-game series to the Kenosha Kingfish (25-35, 9-25 Second Half), 11-4, Friday at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Steve Passatempo (UMass Lowell) crushed a three-run homer over the fence in center to cut the Woodchucks' defecit to 4-3 in the fourth inning. It was his team-leading 11th home run of the season, and raised his RBI total to a team-leading 59. He finished 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

Passatempo now trails the 'Chucks franchise RBI record by just two runs with two games to play. Paul DeJong drove in 61 runs in 2014. DeJong now plays for the Springfield Cardinals, the St. Louis Cardinals' Double-A affiliate in the Texas League.

Steele Walker (Oklahoma) extended his league-leading on-base streak to 43 games. He will finish with the longest hitting and on-base streaks in the Northwoods League this season.

Walker's league-leading batting average is .406 with two-plus games remaining. The Woodchucks' franchise record is .391, and has stood since the franchise's — and the NWL's — opening season in 1994. Walker leads the NWL batting race by more than 40 points.

Alex Lewandowski (Northwood) took the loss for the 'Chucks.

The 'Chucks finish out the 2016 season in Kenosha on Saturday and Sunday. First pitches are scheduled for 6:05 p.m. and 4:05 p.m., respectively, and fans can tune in on FOX Sports Radio 1390 AM/93.9 FM.
