The Bombers split their first day of doubleheaders with the Eau Claire Express at Carson Park on Thursday. The Express downed the Bombers 6-5 in game one, and Battle Creek securely won game two 5-1.<\/p>\n
In the first of two seven-inning games, the Bomb Squad took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but the Express pounced with a run in the home half, before surging back in the bottom of the seventh and took advantage of Alex Tukey\u2019s fatigue on the hill and brought home three runs, including a walk-off single from Ben Kincaid. At the dish, Brett Wiley put together three of Battle Creek\u2019s nine hits.<\/p>\n
Clearly motivated by grasping defeat from the jaws of victory 30 minutes earlier, the Bombers lit up Eau Claire 5-0 before the Express put a run on the board in the seventh, despite only rallying for six hits. John Morrison was the star for Battle Creek, throwing a complete game two-hitter.<\/p>\n
