The reception for the Bombers was less than friendly, the Kingfish one hit the Bombsquad and plated eight runs of their own in the series opener.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDakota Mekkes (Michigan State) got the start for the Bombers and for the first time all year was hit solidly by his opponent. The Kingfish jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and didn&rsquo;t look back.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Kingfish would score seven runs over the next five innings putting the Bombers into a deep hole.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Bombers made some noise of their own in the 5<sup>th<\/sup> when a throwing error allowed Conor Panas (Canisius) to get on base. That error was followed up by four straight walks, scoring two runs for the Bombers. A Joey Havrilak (Akron) sacrifice fly would bring in the third run for the Bombers.&nbsp; Going into the bottom of the 5<sup>th<\/sup> the score was 5-3, Kingfish.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Kingfish would score three more runs, putting the game out of reach for a Bombers team that struggled to hit the ball all day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Bombers will try to take the series finale tomorrow, 8:05pm Eastern Time first pitch.\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"stcpDiv\">\n<article class=\"post-2153 post type-post status-publish format-standard hentry category-team-news category-update-ticker instock\" id=\"post-2153\">\n<p>\n\t\t\t<em>The Battle Creek Bombers are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
