\n\tMequon, Wisc.- There would be no fog to delay the game tonight between the Lakeshore Chinooks and the Battle Creek Bombers, but the results stayed the same.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Chinooks won the second in a row against the Bombsquad, coming out on top 6-3 on a breezy, cool night.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAndrew Mitchell (LSU) had his first start of the season as the rotation was in a bind, but unfortunately for both Mitchell and the Bombers an error early was costly.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tMitchell retired the first two batters of the game and had a softly hit ground ball botched at third base to keep the Chinooks alive. From there, they strung together a few nice at bats to plate two runs.\n<\/p>\n
\n\t"It was a costly error with two outs, turning into a big inning after that," Coach Robinson stated in the locker room. "And then we had to pull him (Mitchell) because he went two over the pitch count regulation."\n<\/p>\n
\n\tRobinson was referring to the NWL rules, disallowing a pitcher to re-enter a game if he throws 35+ pitches in the previous inning. Mitchell threw 37.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tFrom there, Joe Mockbee (Michigan State) and Jordan Grosjean (Central Michigan) did solid relief work, entering and giving up two runs each from the second inning on.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tOffensively, the Bombers were led by Brandon Van Horn (Dallas Baptist). Van Horn, an everyday shortstop, was also thrown into a new spot defensively by the coaching staff (first base).\n<\/p>\n
\n\t"I can't say I was comfortable out there but Coach Rob asked if I would play first," Van Horn said. "And I will go play wherever it takes to get in the lineup and give the team a chance to win."\n<\/p>\n
\n\tVan Horn looked good at the plate as well, getting on base all four times.\n<\/p>\n
\n\t"I think it is about going out up there ready to compete every night and tonight a couple balls fell that haven't been falling."\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Bombers were in the game the whole way, but just could not find that moment to get over the hump and take a lead.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tIn the end, The Chinook closer came in to get the save and the Bombers dropped their third of the four game road trip in southeast Wisconsin.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tBattle Creek heads back to C.O. Brown for a seven game home stand (including a home and home with Kalamazoo) where they look to get back on track.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tFirst pitch tomorrow night is 7:05 ET verse the Kenosha Kingfish.\n<\/p>\n
