Green Bay, Wis.<\/strong> – The Bombers were shutout in game one of the doubleheader, falling to the Bullfrogs 4-0.\n<\/p>\n\n\tOne big inning was all Green Bay would need as the Bombers could not get the offense rolling against Bullfrog pitching.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tGreen Bay struck for three in the second. Bombers starter Andrew Mitchell (Delgado CC) led off the inning by hitting Ryan Donovan (Hofstra) in the arm and followed with a throwing error that put two in scoring position with two out. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) knocked both of those runs in with a double and eventually scored himself on a Logan Taylor (Louisville) single. The Bullfrogs would add one more in the sixth to complete the scoring.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Bombers ran into a couple of rally-killing outs in the second and fourth innings. Christian Helsel (Penn State) was caught stealing to end the second, while Dan Swain (Siena), after leading off the fourth with one of Battle Creek’s four hits, was caught trying to swipe second base. The Bombers never had a runner reach past second base in the game. Lin Li (Taiwan) led the Bombers offense, recording two of the team’s four hits.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tMitchell lasted just two innings in receiving the loss, allowing three runs (two earned), three hits, and one walk, while striking out two. Nick Medeiros (Santa Clara) faced the minimum in three innings of shutout ball, despite allowing three hits. Tyler Harris (Miami-Ohio) allowed one run in pitching the sixth inning.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tGreen Bay’s Alex Martinez (De Anza) threw six shutout innings and got the win. He gave up just three hits and one walk, while striking out four Bombers. Jeremy Graf (St. Petersburg) closed out the game by pitching a scoreless seventh.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tGame 2: Green Bay 2, Battle Creek 1<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\tThe Bombers were swept in the double header, falling to the Green Bay Bullfrogs, 3-1.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Bombers struck first in game two, scoring in the third inning to lead Green Bay 1-0. Hank Trulock (Florida State), led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch on his elbow, and then Tyler Walsh (Belmont) walked. Then with one out, Cayce Bredlau (Austin Peay), hit a ground ball to Bullfrogs first baseman Danny Rosenbaum (Louisville), who tried to turn the double play by throwing to second base, threw the ball into center field allowing Trulock to score. That was all the Bombers were able to score in the game as they had just two hits.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tIn the fifth inning, Green Bay came back, but some more self-inflicted wounds committed by Battle Creek helped them out. Franco Guardascione (West Palm State) led off the inning with a single, and then Jack Strunc (Washington State) was hit by a pitch. Then on a Ty Blankmeyer (St. John’s) single, Dan Swain committed a throwing error while getting the ball back into the infield that airmailed the cutoff man, which allowed Guardascione to score. That tied the game at 1-1. Later in the inning, Bombers catcher Spencer Hemphill (Lousiana-Monroe) tried to pick off Blankmeyer from third base, and threw the ball into left field to allow Blankmeyer to score. That made the score 2-1, and that’s all the Bullfrogs needed to defeat the Bombers. Green Bay got their final run on a sacrifice fly from Matt De La Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne).\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAlex Hermling (Louisiana-Monroe) pitched all six innings taking the loss for the Bombers, and he allowed three runs (just one earned), while giving up five hits.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Bombers have scored just two runs in there past 24 innings. After being swept in the double header, the Bombers record is now 12-19 on the season.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tGreen Bay’s Tommy Strunc (Creighton) made his first start of the season after pitching out of the bullpen exclusively, and he went three innings allowing just one unearned run. Connor Donavon (Lehigh) pitched three scoreless innings while stirking out five, and Jeremy Graf (Dayton) got his second save of the day by striking out the side in the seventh.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tBattle Creek will try to salvage one game in the series on Friday night against he Bullfrogs, first pitch at 8:05 Eastern Time. Min Hsia will start for Battle Creek.\n<\/p>\n
