The Battle Creek Bombers scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat the Kenosha Kingfish 4-3 on Saturday night.<\/span><\/p>\n Battle Creek got out to a hot start, as Cooper Trinkle delivered an RBI groundout to push across Seth Tucker and give the Bombers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Kenosha responded right back, though, off of Battle Creek starter Mitchell Lee. Connor Mang delivered a run-scoring single in the home half of the first to even the score. Lee, who has appeared in more games than any other Battle Creek pitcher, made his first start of the season Saturday night.<\/span><\/p>\n Kenosha took the lead for the first time in the third inning, Lee\u2019s final frame. Mike Jarvis delivered an RBI single after Mitchell Buban stole second base, and the Kingfish jumped in front 2-1. Kenosha added another run in the fifth inning when Mang added his second RBI single of the day. The 3-1 lead was the only multi-run margin of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n It didn\u2019t last very long, though, as Battle Creek got to Kenosha reliever Owen Reith in the second. Back-to-back run-scoring triples from Seth Tucker and Caleb Balgaard tied the game off of Reith, who exited the game without recording an out. Trace Peterson added a sacrifice fly to score Balgaard, and the Bombers captured a lead they would never relinquish.<\/span><\/p>\n Beaux Bonvillain came into the game in the eighth inning, and escaped the frame with the bases loaded. The southpaw then worked 1-2-3 through the ninth to record his eighth save of the season. The bottom five batters in the Kenosha order went hitless through the entire contest, largely contributing to Battle Creek escaping with the victory. <\/span><\/p>\n The three runs that the Bombers allowed were the fewest since July 12. Battle Creek and Kenosha play the final game of the season Sunday afternoon at 1:05 Central Time. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players.
