ROCKFORD, IL-\u00a0<\/strong>The Bombers powerful offense did not transfer to the road in their 9-1 loss to Rockford Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The Bombers went with a bullpen game as Justin King started on the mound. The lefty went four innings but surrendered three runs. The big blast off the night came off the bat of Rockford’s Tommy Benson who took King deep in the fourth inning. Rockford scored two runs in both the fourth and the fifth before breaking the game open in the eighth. Daniel Cantu plated two runs off David Williams with a triple.<\/p>\n

Rockford was led by Grant Magil who went 3-4. Wade Elliott had a multi-hit game of his own going 2-4. It was Elliott who scored the first run of the night on a wild pitch in the second inning.<\/p>\n

The Bombers trailed 3-0 going into the bottom of the fifth when they sent Davis Burgin to the mound. Burgin, who had a 1.06 ERA going into the night struggled in his one inning of work giving up two runs and throwing exactly 35 pitches which ended his night early.<\/p>\n

The Bombers could not solve Rockford starter Ross Thompson. The Rivets ace went seven shutout innings allowing just four hits striking out five.<\/p>\n

Mason Sykes and Aaron Beck led the Bombers on offense as they each went 2-4. Beck score on a wild pitch in the eighth which plated the only Bomber run of the game.<\/p>\n

Battle Creek falls to 14-22 overall and 1-1 in the second half. The Bombers and the Rivets will meet again tomorrow with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.<\/p>\n
