BATTLE CREEK, MI \u2013 In the fourth and final contest between the Battle Creek Battle Jacks (18-20) and the Lakeshore Chinooks (20-18), the team from Mequon, Wisconsin won in a 5-1 contest. It is the third time Battle Creek has been swept this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

After a nailbiter 2-0 pitcher\u2019s duel in the previous night\u2019s contest, the game picked up right there as the first four innings were scoreless with only one recorded hit for each team. Lakeshore\u2019s hit belonged to<\/span> Stephen Hrustich<\/b>, while Battle Creek\u2019s belonged to debuting shortstop <\/span>Brycen Sherwood.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Battle Creek\u2019s starting pitcher was<\/span> Justin Graves<\/b> who ended his day with 6.0 IP, 3 hits, and 3 ER with three walks and two strikeouts; while Lakeshore\u2019s <\/span>Joe Glassey<\/b> got the nod and went 6.0 IP. 3 hits, and 1 ER with one walk and six punch-outs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The seal was finally broken in the top of the fifth when Lakeshore\u2019s <\/span>Hrustich <\/b>worked a two-out walk and<\/span> Josh Johnson<\/b> made <\/span>Graves <\/b>pay with his first long ball of the season into the Dog House in left.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chinooks kept piling it on with another insurance run in the sixth after <\/span>Michael Seegers<\/b> reached on a single to right and was brought home by a sac-fly off the bat of <\/span>Caleb Bartolero<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Battle Jacks snapped a skid of 16 scoreless innings in the bottom frame of the seventh inning after<\/span> Joey Grabanski<\/b> worked a walk and was brought home by a <\/span>Sherwood <\/b>sac-hit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lakeshore added a couple more runs to cushion their lead in the eighth inning after a single, an error, and a walk gave them a 5-1 advantage.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Battle Jacks were not able to answer in the ninth as they fall in their second straight contest.<\/span><\/p>\n

The standout at the dish for the Battle Jacks was debutant<\/span> Brycen Sherwood<\/b> who went 2-3, recording two of the four Battle Creek hits, and hitting the lone RBI.<\/span><\/p>\n
