The Northwoods League announced the rosters for the 2010 All-Star Game that will be played Tuesday, July 20th at 7:35 PM Eastern in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  The 2010 Home Run Derby will start an hour and a half before the All-Star Game.

The host South Division All-Stars will take on their North Division counterparts at Carson Park, home of the 2010 South Division First-Half Champion Eau Claire Express.  The two-day event will begin Monday, July 19th with the All-Star Banquet at Florian Gardens at 6:30 PM.  Tuesday, July 20th will be the Home Run Derby at 6:05 PM with the All-Star Game at 7:35 PM with fireworks after the game.  The All-Star Game will be streamed over the internet on NorthwoodsLeague.tv.

The Thunder Bay Border Cats lead the way with six all-stars on the North Division team.  The South Division First-Half Champion Eau Claire Express place five all-stars while the North Divisions First-Half Champion Rochester Honkers landed three All-stars.  Headlining Thunder Bay‘s selectees is the Northwood’s league leader in wins with six, Zak Miller (New Mexico).  The second basemen for the South Division, Drew Heithoff (Augustana), currently leads the NWL in batting average at .420.  The league’s RBI leader with 34, short-stop Steve Nyistzor (Rutgers) of St. Cloud, is one of three River Bats on the North Division team.  First Half home runs leaders Scott Schebler (Wichita State) of the Green Bay Bullfrogs and Steve McGuiggan (Illinois Chicago) of the Eau Claire Express will be playing for the South Division All-stars.

Two second-time All-Stars are on this year’s South Division team.  Infielder Harold Riggins (NC State) of the Madison Mallards and Rudy Jaramillo (New Mexico) of the Eau Claire Express return for their second NWL All-State Game.  Riggins won the 2009 NWL All-Star Home Run Derby while Jaramillo was the 2009 South Division starting pitcher.

The University of Illinois and the University of California both have three players playing in the All-Star Game.  Illinois has a pair of Madison Mallards in catcher Adam Davis and short-stop Josh Parr representing the South Division team.  California will have two players on the North Division team led by Marcus Semien and starting pitcher Matt Flemer on the South Division team.

This year’s All-Stars were chosen in a vote by the 16 member teams of the Northwoods League. Ballots were cast by each team’s field staff and radio and media contacts.  The complete list of All-Stars is below:
