Training together and playing together.
Thank tot he Ramada Inn, we celebrated the Special Olympic’s 50th Anniversary in a one-of-a-kind way!
Sports bring people together, which is why the Larks and the Ramada Inn teamed up to use the power of baseball to celebrate the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary.
June 5th, 35 Special Olympics athletes took to the field at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark, Home of Dakota Community Bank and Trust Field. The tryouts, which consisted of fielding, hitting and outfielding drills, lead by Larks Head Coach Sean Repay and his staff, were intense. The Larks were looking for the best of the best talent to join their team for an elite UNIFIED game.
The Larks coaching staff was so impressed by the talent of these athletes, all 35 players were offered an exclusive one-day contract with the team, drafted as either a “Bismarck Bomber” or “Lark Attack.” To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Special Olympics movement, Larks players and Special Olympics athletes, came together to promote unity, respect and inclusion in a UNIFIED game played on July 16th at the ballpark.
