The Bull Moose are a Northwoods League baseball team created just for the summer of 2020 to compete against the Bismarck Larks and Mandan Flickertails. The Larks\u2019 front office runs the new Bull Moose organization.<\/p>\n<p>The team\u2019s roster consists of 18 Division I players, seven Division II players, one NAIA player and one CCCAA player.<\/p>\n<p>The Bull Moose are coached by first-time head coach and former Larks player Mitchell Gallagher. Gallagher played with the Larks for the 2017 inaugural season during which he compiled 35 hits, two home runs, 13 RBIs and nine stolen bases. Although Gallagher\u2019s collegiate playing days are over, he is excited to help players develop in Bismarck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn summer, we all still share that drive to win \u2014 it&#8217;s not fun to be around the losing team,\u201d said Gallagher. \u201cBut at the end of the day, if we send our guys home and they all improve significantly, we can take a lot more from that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joey Cooper, a friend of Gallagher, will join him on the Bull Moose coaching staff.<\/p>\n<p>Former Lark Stephen Baughan is returning to Bismarck to play for the Bull Moose. The powerful first baseman batted .295 through 25 games with 28 hits, 19 RBI and 6 home runs for the Larks.<\/p>\n<p>A large part of the Bull Moose roster consists of NCAA Division I players, one of which, Peter Surruto, was selected in the 22nd round of the 2018 MLB Amatuer Player Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. The Bull Moose catcher didn\u2019t sign with the team, opting instead to attend Rutgers University.<\/p>\n<p>Surruto\u2019s started 11 of his team\u2019s 12 games in his 2020 sophomore season. He earned 10 hits, eight runs and seven RBI.
