Opening Day is here for Major League Baseball! A total of 19 Northwoods League alumni have made an opening day roster, although three of those players are currently on the disabled list. One player whose opening day fate wasn’t announced until yesterday afternoon was LHP Daniel Herrera (La Crosse, ’05) of the Reds who earned a spot on the 25-man active roster as a relief pitcher.

The 19 NWL alumni are listed below. Keep in mind that Washington Nationals RHP Jordan Zimmermann (Eau Claire, ’06) will push the number to 20 when he’s called up prior to his first start on April 19th as the team’s 5th starter.

Jaramillo and Jakubauskas will be making their Major League debut in their first appearance becoming the 51st and 52nd Northwoods League alumni to do so. Zimmermann will then become the 53rd.
