Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks announced today the rehiring of Travis Kiewiet to be the team’s Bench Coach for the 2010 season.  Kiewiet (KEY-wit) held the same position for Waterloo over the past two seasons.  Kiewiet joins Manager Jason Nell as part of the coaching staff for 2010.

“Bringing Travis back in 2010 was a priority for us as an organization,” said Bucks’ General Manager Dan Corbin.  “Since coming on board as a coach in 2008, he has developed strong relationships with our athletes and has been heavily involved in our players’ development during the season.  We are excited to have a great individual like Travis back in our uniform for another season.”

Prior to his work for the Bucks, Kiewiet was the head coach at Dike-New Hartford High School and associate head baseball coach at Cedar Falls High School in 2006.  Kiewiet also served as the C.F.H.S. assistant varsity coach during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Before his work with the Tigers and Wolverines, Kiewiet was the head coach at Hudson High School in 2002 and 2003 where he directed his ’02 team to the class 2A state baseball tournament.

Kiewiet, a physical education teacher at Hudson Middle School and High School, is eager to return to the Bucks and renovated Riverfront Stadium for another season.

“I am very excited to be coming back with the Bucks for the 2010 season,” said Kiewiet.  “I would like to thank the [team owners] Marsos, General Manager Dan Corbin, and new Field Manager Jason Nell for the opportunity to come back.  With the expansion of the Northwoods League and the continued upgrades to Riverfront Stadium, it should be a competitive and outstanding summer.  I am looking forward to trying to bring another Northwoods championship to the Cedar Valley.”

Kiewiet resides in Dike with his wife Teresa and three children Marley, Parker, and Taylor.

The Bucks will be back in action in early-June of 2010.  The 2010 Northwoods League schedule is expected to be released in early-January.  Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
