(Rochester, MN) The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of three University of Oregon Ducks to the Honkers squad this summer.  Joey Housey, Ryan Hambright, and Andrew Mendenhall will all be first time Rochester Honkers.

Joey HouseyHousey is a 6’3”, 195-pound sophomore right-handed pitcher.  He has made 7 relief appearances on the season, pitching 7.2 innings, striking out 9 with an ERA of 0.00.  He recorded his first save of the season Sunday afternoon versus Nevada and is holding opponents to a .160 batting average against. A 2008 graduate of Nova High School in Davie, FL, Housey finished his senior season 7-1 with a 0.48 ERA and 80 strikeouts in only 44 innings pitched.  He was selected in the 31st round by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Ryan HambrightHambright is a 6’1”, 190-pound freshman pitcher and infielder.  He has appeared in 19 games for the Ducks, hitting .216 and scoring 9 runs along with making 2 relief appearances on the mound.  Hambright graduated from Temescal Canyon High School in Lake Elsinore, CA in 2009.  He was named the Team MVP as a senior and was the 2008 Offensive Player of the Year.

Andrew MendenhallMendenhall is a 6’3” 195-pound freshman outfielder.  He has seen limited playing time so far, starting 4 games and getting 11 at bats.  He’s 1-2 in stolen bases and has scored a run.  Mendenhall is a 2009 graduate of Southridge High School in Kennewick, WA where he was a three-sport athlete playing football, baseball and basketball.  He was named the Athlete of the Year by the Tri City Herald after earning first team all-Big 9 honors as a quarterback and first team accolades as a shooting guard.

The Rochester Honkers 17th season begins on June 2nd when they travel to Mankato, MN for a 7:05pm start.  Their home opener is Thursday, June 3rd against Mankato at Mayo Field starting at 7:05pm.
