(Green Bay, WI) The Green Bay Bullfrogs Baseball Club has secured three more commitments for the upcoming 2010 season. The Bullfrogs have signed catcher Pierce Rankin, infielder Troy Scott and pitcher Forrest Snow. All three come to Green Bay from the University of Washington.
Rankin will be in his first season with Green Bay. In his junior year, Rankin has appeared in 30 games and has a batting average of .283. He has 11 doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI on the season.
In 2009, Rankin earned Honorable Mention All-Pac 10. He played in 41 games: 23 at second base, 12 at catcher, three at first base, two at designated hitter and one in left field. Last summer Rankin played summer baseball for the New Bedford (Mass.) Bay Sox, where he played infield and pitched. Rankin played summer ball for the Bellingham (Wash.) Bells in the WCCBL in 2008, his freshman year at Washington.
Rankin attended Shorecrest High School where he was his team’s MVP as a junior and senior. Rankin made First-Team All-WesCo and Second-Team All State as a senior.
Scott plays first base for the Huskies and will be in his first season with the Bullfrogs. On the season for Washington, the junior is batting .230 with nine doubles and two home runs. Scott has 16 runs batted in on the season.
In his sophomore year at Washington, Scott finished tenth in the Pac-10 in home runs with 11. After last season was complete Scott went and played summer ball with the Newport (R.I.) Gulls, helping the team to the NECBL Championship. With the Gulls he hit, .316 in the regular season and was named to the All-League team. While the team was in the playoffs Scott batted .400 with 10 RBI in eight games.
In 2008, his freshman year, Scott earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-10. He was the regular first baseman starting 49 of the Huskies 55 games. Scott went and played summer ball in the Alaska League for the Mat-Su Miners. He was second on his team for batting average (.289) and led the league in doubles (14) and RBI (30).
In high school, Scott played at Auburn High School where he led his team to a 20-4 record his junior year and a 22-3 mark as a senior. His school won the league title and finished second in the state tournament both years. In his senior year, Scott hit .600 with nine home runs and 27 RBI. He was a Rawlings All-American and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 42nd round of the 2007 draft.
Snow, a right handed-pitcher, has a 3-0 record on the year in 14 appearances; four of which were starts. He is posting a 5.06 earned run average in 32 innings. Snow has struck out 29 while only walking 15.
During his sophomore campaign Snow pitched in 13 games and started 3. He spent the summer in the Alaska League with the Anchorage Bucs. With the Bucs he went 4-1 with 34 strikeouts and 13 walks in 32.2 innings. As a freshman at Washington he appeared in six contests, all in relief. He spent the summer playing baseball with the Bend (Ore.) Elks.
While Snow was in high school he was named First-Team All-Metro League and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior and again as a senior. Snow finished his high school career with a record of 13-9, 2.89 earned run average, 123 strikeouts in 106 innings. He was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 44th round of the 2007 draft becoming the first Lakeside player ever drafted.
The Bullfrogs are scheduled to open their season on June 2 against the Battle Creek Bombers at 6:35 P.M. at Joannes Baseball Stadium in Green Bay.
