(Waterloo, IA) The Waterloo Bucks have announced the signing of catcher Jonathan Crist for the 2010 season. Currently, Crist is a sophomore at Youngstown State University and is the 21st player to sign with the Bucks for the summer.

This season for the Penguins, Crist is hitting .278 with a .407 slugging percentage in 27 games. The 5’11”, 175-pounder has started in 15 games and carries a .339 on-base percentage.

“I can’t wait to be part of a team with such a great tradition and fan base,” said Crist. “I’ve heard so much about the town and the team and it will be an honor to play for the Bucks.”

Last season for Youngstown State, Crist played in 27 games, starting 15. Crist finished with a batting average of .278 with six runs scored, seven RBI, and one home run.

A graduate of Pinnacle High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, Crist earned three varsity letters and was a team captain. As a senior, the catcher was named First-Team All Pima Region and ranked second in the 5A Pima League with five home runs and 29 RBI.

The Bucks will open the 2010 season at home on Wednesday, June 2 at 6:35 pm versus Wisconsin Rapids. Season tickets and single-game tickets are currently on sale. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
