(Wisconsin Rapids, WI) Rafters front office officials have announced the addition of two California players to the 2010 roster today. Evan Peters (UC-Santa Clara) and Kyle Anderson (Cal Poly SLO) have both been added to the 2010 team.
Peters is enjoying a fine offensive year as a middle infielder for the UC-Santa Clara Broncos. A teammate of fellow Rafters catcher Quinton Perry, Peters’ batting average sits at .315 after 36 spring games. The right handed hitter has clubbed a total of 41 hits including 11 doubles, 1 home run, and has tallied 15 RBI on the season. The everyday shortstop for Santa Clara, Peters has a .933 fielding percentage while playing one of the most demanding positions on the diamond.
Peters began his collegiate baseball career at San Joaquin Delta Community College in Stockton, California, where he played during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He was a unanimous 2008 All-Big 8 Conference shortstop at San Joaquin, when he hit .376 as a true freshman that season. His 59 base hits ranked him fifth in the league in a year which he was also named the team MVP. Last season Peters went on to lead San Joaquin to the 2009 state championship game as a sophomore, helping the Mustangs finish as the top team in Northern California.
A prep star at Red Bluff High School, Peters led his team with a .446 batting average as a senior in 2007. He slugged .772, hitting 13 doubles in 28 games while helping Red Bluff advance to the sectional championship. Hatted .333 as a junior in 2006 and .326 as a sophomore in 2005. Peters is an Economics major at UC-Santa Clara.

As a true freshman, Anderson appeared in four games on the mound and compiled a 0-2 record and 7.88 ERA, with 12 strikeouts in 16 innings for the Mustangs. His past experience playing summer baseball will be beneficial as he enters his first season with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Playing for the Spokane Riverhawks last summer, Anderson posted a 4-2 record and 2.40 ERA over 11 appearances (7 starts). He struck out 37 batters in 48.2 innings during the summer season.
A three-year varsity letter winner in baseball at Aptos High School in California, Anderson was a major contributor in helping lead the Mariners to Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League titles in 2007 and 2008. As a senior he was 8-2 on the mound with three saves and a sparkling 2.13 ERA. In 72 innings of work he logged 89 strikeouts and earned first-team All-SCCAL and first-team All-Santa Cruz County honors for his performance on the diamond. As a junior, he was 10-2 on the mound with a 1.40 ERA. He struck out 105 batters in just 70 innings while earning first-team All-SCCAL honors and was also named first-team All-Santa Cruz County.
