(Wisconsin Rapids, WI) Wisconsin Rapids Rafters Manager Scott Laverty announced today that Chris Green will be the starting pitcher for the first opening day in Rafters history. The Rafters open the season on the road Wednesday,
June 2 against the Waterloo Bucks.
Green, a junior at Northwest Missouri State, compiled an 8-5 record this spring, racking up more than 72 innings pitched. The 6’ 2” right hander struck out 30 while walking 25.
“We’re very excited to have a pitcher of Chris Green’s caliber here to start the season for us,” Laverty said. “Chris won eight games on a team that was under .500, so he clearly knows how to go out and put his squad in a position to be successful.”
