The La Crosse Loggers baseball club announced today that they have inked a pair of pitchers from the University of North Carolina in right-hander Shane Taylor (pictured left) and southpaw Hobbs Johnson (pictured right).

Shane Taylor is one highly touted freshman arm that the Tar Heels are banking on being a big contributor out of their bullpen in 2011. The 6-1, 175 pound right hander was the No. 7 prospect in the state of New Jersey and the No. 360 ranked prospect nationally by Perfect Game coming out of Clearview Regional High School in Mulica Hill, NJ. Taylor poses a fastball that reaches the low 90’s with significant movement.

Left-hander Hobbs Johnson brings a polished approach to UNC and will bring the same this summer to the Loggers. Coming out of Rocky Mountain High School (Rocky Mountain, NC) Johnson was rated as the No. 9 prospect in North Carolina by Impact Baseball and the No. 10 player in the state by Perfect Game. The 6-0, 190 pound Johnson also ranked No. 319 nationally by Perfect Game.
