(Rochester, MN)-– The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the hiring of Michael Broskowski (Broe-Scow-Ski) as the new Voice of Rochester Honkers Baseball for the 2012 season.  Broskowski takes over the microphone from Zack Fisch who will be graduating from St. Cloud State in the spring.

“It’s a great honor to be part of the Rochester Honkers organization, an organization steeped in history,” said Broskowski.  “The Northwoods League has always been a goal of mine and to break in with the best franchise in the league, it’s special.”

Broskowski is a junior at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL majoring in Broadcasting and Journalism.  He does play-by-play for the WIU football team on WIU TV 3, the lead broadcaster for women’s basketball and does play-by-play for the men’s baseball team on the Leatherneck Sports Network.

This past summer Broskowski was the broadcaster for the Mat-Su-Miners of the Alaska Summer Collegiate League, as well as their official scorekeeper and statistician.  In 2010, he was the Number 2 Broadcaster for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the Class A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, where he provided play-by-play for 4-5 innings a game and color commentary for approximately 100 games.

“I’m excited to bring the fans the action this summer and enhance the listener and viewer experience,” added Broskowski.  “I can’t wait for this summer, and call the game that I truly love.”

All 70 regular scheduled Rochester Honkers games and the post season will be heard again next season on Sports Radio AM 1520 “The Ticket” with Broskowski having the call.
