The Eau Claire Express and La Crosse Loggers played in a doubleheader today. La Crosse won the game that was suspended from last night, but the Express won the second game, snapping the Loggers’ winning streak. They still hold a half game lead over Willmar while Kenosha leads Lakeshore by a half game.

 

St. Cloud 2, Duluth 7

The Duluth Huskies scored enough in the first and third and defeated the St. Cloud Rox 7-2. Duluth got a pair in the opening inning when John Lagatutta (Cal) hit a double. The Rox got one in the second from a pass ball, but three more came home on an error by the Rox. Duluth scored once more in the fifth, but then both teams traded runs in the sixth while the Huskies threw two relievers to end the game.

Wisconsin 6, Rockford 2 (7 Innings)

The Wisconsin Woodchucks used the early innings to build a lead and defeat the Rockford Rivets 6-2. The Chucks put up two in the first, then a run in the third and then three in the fourth to go ahead big. The Rivets got three doubles in the bottom half of the fourth from Cade Bunnell (Indiana), Kian O’Brien (Kent State) and Zach Sehgal (Stanford). The rest of the game went scoreless as Wisconsin came out on top.

Lakeshore, Madison (Postponed to July 17, 4:00 PM)

The Game has been suspended in the bottom of the second due to weather. It will be continued and finished to nine innings as part of a doubleheader on July 17 in Madison starting at 4 PM. The regularly scheduled game will take place afterwards and will be seven innings.
Eau Claire 5, La Crosse 6 (Game 1)

The La Crosse Loggers walked it off in the bottom of the ninth and defeated the Eau Claire Express 6-5 in a game that spanned over two days. The scoring started yesterday when Braiden Ward (Washington) led off the bottom of the first with a homer for the Loggers. The Express then got four in the fifth as La Crosse committed two errors and Devon Garcia (Ohio) hit a triple. The Loggers tied it in the sixth which was started by Armani Smith (UCSB) knocking in two from a triple. The game then got postponed due to rain. When it resumed today, Cody Milligan (Oklahoma State) hit an RBI triple for Eau Claire. La Crosse then delivered in the bottom of the ninth when Nick Lewis (South Alabama) hit a ball, there was an error by the first base men and two guys scored for the winner.

Waterloo 6, Willmar 10

The Willmar Stingers did its damage in the middle innings and defeated the Waterloo Bucks 10-6. The Stingers got three in the fourth which was powered by Sebastian Samuels (Montevallo) hitting a two-run double. Waterloo got on the board in the fifth, but the Stingers scored four more times including a two-run single by Samuels. They then scored in the sixth and seventh. Waterloo fought back for four in the eighth including a bases clearing double by Patrick Ferguson (Kent State). Davis Elliott (North Alabama) went deep then for Willmar in the bottom half and that was enough for the win.

Mankato 4, Rochester 10

The Mankato MoonDogs scored big in the first and third and defeated the Rochester Honkers 10-4. The Honkers got four right away in the first which was powered by Mike Peabody (UC Irvine) knocking in two from a single. The MoonDogs got one in the second from an RBI single by RJ Teijeiro (UCLA). Nick Novak (Angelo State) Knocked in two for Mankato from a single in the third, but Logan Denholm (UC Davis) hit a grand slam in the bottom half. The Honkers got two more home runs in the fourth from Alex McGarry (Oregon State) and Christian Robinson (Stanford). The Dogs got an unearned run in the seventh, but the Honkers bullpen threw three scoreless to end the game.

Fond du Lac 6, Kalamazoo 5

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders used the middle innings to take the lead and defeat the Kalamazoo Growlers 6-5. Kalamazoo got one in the opening inning and then another in the third when Jason Sullivan (Central Michigan) hit an RBI single. Fondy tied it in the fifth from an error and then took the lead in the next inning when Alex Erro (Northwestern) and Sam Cohen (UCSB) hit consecutive RBI singles. The Growlers got three in the seventh from an error, but Michael Hope (Shippensburg) threw the final inning for his third save.

Wisconsin Rapids 4, Green Bay 6

The Green Bay Bullfrogs walked it off in the bottom of the ninth and defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 6-4. Rapids got a lead off home run by Brody Wofford (UCF). Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) then hit an RBI double in the third, but the Frogs responded with four in the fourth which was centered around three errors. Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) tied it in the ninth with a two-run single. Then in the bottom of the ninth with one on and nobody out, Matthew Acosta (USC) hit a shot to win the game for Green Bay.

Bismarck 11, Thunder Bay 9

The Bismarck Larks outscored the Thunder Bay Border Cats in the second and won the game 11-9. Bismarck got on the board in the opening inning. They then exploded in the next inning which was amplified by Matthew Warkentin (Xavier) hitting a grand slam. The Cats responded for five in the bottom half which was powered by Cam Pearcey (Coastal Carolina) homering in three. The Larks got another in the third, but Thunder Bay came within three in the bottom half on consecutive base-knocks. Thunder Bay got two more in the fifth, but Bismarck scored once more in the sixth as Chris Roycroft (Aurora) converted his first save.

Kenosha 4, Battle Creek 0

The Kenosha Kingfish held the Battle Creek Bombers to just three hits and won the game 4-0. Scott Dubrule (Jacksonville) hit an RBI double in the second to give Kenosha its first run. Denson Hull (Creighton) threw seven for the Kingfish. He allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out seven for his third win. Three more came home in the eighth as an error was committed and Jack Weiller (Virginia) and Connor Doyle (San Diego) hit RBI singles. Kevin Napoleon (Butler) then came in, faced the minimum and struck out four to end the game.

La Crosse 1, Eau Claire 6 (Game 2)

The Eau Claire Express scored a pair in the fourth and fifth which was enough to defeat the La Crosse Loggers 6-1. The Express got one in the first as Nick Brueser (Stanford) hit an RBI single. The Loggers got tied it in the fourth, but Brueser went deep for two in the bottom half. The Express got another pair in the next inning which was started by Brueser knocking in another. Eau Claire got an unearned run in the eighth and Justin Slaten (New Mexico) picked up his sixth win after throwing five and striking out nine.
