The Madison Mallards returned to winning ways as they swept the Lakeshore Chinooks to maintain their three-game lead in the overall South Division Standings. Duluth leads by 1.5 games in the over North while La Crosse leads 1.5 in the second half. Kenosha now leads four teams in the second half south.

 

Lakeshore 1, Madison 7 (Game 1)

The Madison Mallards used a big sixth inning and defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks 7-1. The Mallards scored first in the first on a bases loaded walk. Calvin Greenfield (Florida) hit an RBI double in the fourth for Madison. The Chinooks scored once in the fifth on a pass ball, but Madison got five in the sixth which included a three-run shot by Trevor Schwecke (UW-Milwaukee). Dustin Saenz (Texas A&M) threw a solid five and struck out six while the bullpen threw a scoreless four to end the game.

Battle Creek 12, Wisconsin 0

The Battle Creek Bombers used a big sixth inning and defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 12-0. The Bombers got one in the third from an RBI double by Michael Brown (Wofford). Battle Creek got three in the fourth including two by Roman Trujllo (New Mexico State) hitting a single. The sixth inning was powered by Jordan Swiss (Saginaw Valley State) knocking in two with a single. The Bombers got two in the eighth and one in the ninth while Chase Wheatcroft (Cal State Stanislaus) threw five in his start for his third win.

Rockford 1, Fond du Lac 14

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders started scoring late, but jumped all over the Rockford Rivets 14-1. The Rivets got it only run in the fourth. Fondy got a two-run double in the bottom half to take the lead from Braden Stutzman (Oregon). The Spiders got another pair in the fifth and then three in the sixth as Jack Wassel (Minnesota) drove in all of them from a double. Another three came in the next inning as Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss) knocked in two from a single. Mitch Boe (Iowa) drove in two out of four runs in the eighth on a single. Austin Wagner (Ellsworth CC) threw seven allowing just one run and striking out four while Connor Cook (UW-La Crosse) threw the final two scoreless to end the game.

Waterloo 8, Eau Claire 7

The Waterloo Bucks got the lead in the ninth and defeated the Eau Claire Express 8-7. The Bucks got two in the first on back-to-back RBI singles from Patrick Ferguson (Kent State) and Ethan Ibarra (St. Cloud State). The Express got one unearned run in the bottom half. The Bucks got an unearned run in the fourth, but Eau Claire got two from a double by Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) in the bottom half. The Express got another in the fifth and then three more in the sixth. The Bucks made a comeback with two in the eighth and then tied in the ninth from a two-run single by Myles Emmerson (Cal Poly) and the lead from an error for the eventual game-winner.
La Crosse 4, Willmar 5

The Willmar Stingers scored big in the eighth and defeated the La Crosse Loggers 5-4. The Loggers got one in the fourth when Mike Rothenberg (Duke) hit a single. They got two more in the fifth which was started by an error. The Stingers tied it in the seventh with three as Caleb Ricca  (Northwestern State) hit a two-run triple. Rothenberg hit a double for the lead in the eighth, but Willmar got two in the bottom half from an Eli Wilson (Minnesota) two-run double. Jayson Newman (Cal-State Northridge) then threw the final inning for his sixth save.

Rochester 6, St. Cloud 2

The Rochester Honkers prevented the St. Cloud Rox from coming back in the ninth and won the game 6-2. The Honkers scored four in the sixth to get on the board. Casey Dunlap (Point Loma Nazarene) and Michael Michalak (Illinois) hit consecutive base-knocks. Rochester got two more RBI singles in the seventh. Jack Barrie (Northwestern Ohio) then hit a solo shot in the ninth while another run scored, but the next two guys went down to end the game.
Mankato 24, Bismarck 1

The Mankato MoonDogs went off big in the ninth inning and defeated the Bismarck Larks 24-1. There was five in the first inning. Kyle MacDonald (Arkansas State) knocked in his first two to get things going with a double. Bismarck got an RBI single from Kyle Stevens (Murray State) in the second. The Dogs got a pair in the sixth which was started from an error. Mankato got another two in the eighth and then 15 in the ninth. There was only one home run which was MacDonald leading off the inning with a dinger. He hit three times that inning and drove in two more from a pair of singles. There were two errors in the inning and Austin Bull (Grand Canyon) was responsible for three runs which proved to be way too much of a lead.

Green Bay 1, Kenosha 0

The Green Bay Bullfrogs three-hit the Kenosha Kingfish and won the game 1-0. The one run came in the fifth when Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) crossed home. Cody Norman (La Verne) threw seven scoreless for Green Bay, allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out three. Joe Vranesic (Wabash Valley) threw eight, allowed the one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six. The Frogs threw two guys in relief including David Toth (Hillside) converting his first save.

Lakeshore 1, Madison 2 (7 Innings) (Game 2)

The Madison Mallards threw a no-hitter with two pitchers and defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks 2-1. Madison got one the second with a home run by Drew Ober (UNC Charlotte). The Mallards committed two errors in the third, allowed a run, but didn’t give up a hit. The game was tied at one in the seventh with one out, Trevor Boone (Oklahoma State) knocked in the game-winner from a double for the Mallards. Brian Morrell (Notre Dame) threw five, didn’t allow an earned run, struck out four while Jonah Smith (Creighton) threw the final two and picked up the win.

Duluth 8, Thunder Bay 7

The Duluth Huskies scored a run in the ninth, prevented a comeback from the Thunder Bay Border Cats and won the game 8-7. Duluth got one in the opening inning and then two in the second from a two-run shot by General McArthur (Missouri State). The Cats scored their first in the fourth. They got another in the sixth from a run-scoring double, but Duluth scored three in the next inning including a two-run shot by Christian Jones (Washington). Thunder Bay got three in the bottom half as Billy Cook (Pepperdine) knocked in two from a single. Both teams traded runs in the eighth, the Huskies got an insurance run in the ninth. The Cats scored an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth to come within one, but the side was retired to end the game.

Kalamazoo 3, Wisconsin Rapids 13

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters went off in the sixth and defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers 13-3. Rapids got its first in the second on a bases loaded hit by pitch. Kalamazoo tied it in the fifth on an RBI single by Jason Sullivan (Central Michigan). The Growlers then took the lead in the sixth with a shot by Jordan Bowersox (Penn State). The Rafters retook the lead in the bottom half which was powered by Ethan Stringer (Louisville) hitting a two-run triple and Jake Dunham (Northern Illinois) knocking in two from a double. They knocked in another six in the eighth which was capped off by Brody Wofford (UCF) clearing the bases on a double which proved to be the final score.
