Fond du Lac and Kenosha entered today tied for first in the South. The Dock Spiders defeated the Kingfish to take full possession of first place in the second half South Division standings. La Crosse and Duluth both lost as Willmar won to give the Loggers a half game lead over the Stingers and Huskies.

 

Thunder Bay 0, Rochester 12

The Rochester Honkers used a big fifth inning to build a lead and defeat the Thunder Bay Border Cats 12-0. The Honkers got a pair right away in the first when Matt Hardy (UC Riverside) went deep. They got another pair in the next inning off consecutive base-knocks. Michael Michalak (Illinois) started a five-run fifth by going deep for three. Rochester got one in the sixth and then two more in the eighth. Matteo Bocchi (Texas) threw five in his first start of the season and picked up the win after striking out seven.

Eau Claire 9, St. Cloud 3 (7 Innings) (Game 1)

The Eau Claire Express jumped all over the St. Cloud Rox and won 9-3 in a seven inning game. The Express scored three in the second as Andrew Pratt (Lubbock Christian) went deep, the Rox committed an error and Spencer Myers (Notre Dame) singled. Scott Ogrin (Cal Poly) started the scoring with a solo shot in a two-run third. St. Cloud scored all three in the fourth which was powered by Noah Hill (BYU) hitting an RBI single. Pratt went deep again for two in the fifth and Ogrin hit an RBI triple in the sixth. One more scored in the seventh for Eau Claire and the side was retired in the bottom half to end the game.

La Crosse 3, Willmar 2 (7 Innings) (Game 1)

The La Crosse Loggers took the lead in the top of the ninth and defeated the Willmar Stingers 3-2. La Crosse got its first in the third on an RBI double by Bryce Blaum (Texas A&M). The Stingers took the lead in the bottom half from a pass ball and bases loaded walk. Braiden Ward then delivered a two-run triple in the seventh for the Loggers which went on to be the game-winner.

Bismarck 6, Duluth 2

The Bismarck Larks used a big seventh inning and defeated the Duluth Huskies 6-2. Walker Armstrong (Cal State-Northridge) threw six scoreless for the Larks, gave up just three hits and five walks while striking out four. Michael Farnell (Murray State) hit an RBI double in the sixth to get Bismarck on the board. The Larks got another four in the seventh which was powered by Kyle Stevens (Murray State) knocking in two from a single. The Huskies scored twice in the eighth on errors, but Bismarck got an unearned run in the ninth which proved to be the final score.
Kalamazoo 3, Wisconsin 1

The Kalamazoo Growlers held off a late rally from the Wisconsin Woodchucks and won the game 3-1. The Growlers got one in the third from a sac fly while Sam Faith (Missouri State) and Jared Miller (Notre Dame) hit RBI singles in the sixth. Zach DeLoach (Texas A&M) hit an RBI triple in the eighth for the Woodchucks to get on the board. Adam Wheaton (Trine) threw five for the Growlers, allowed nothing on two hits and three walks while striking out five for his second win.
Lakeshore, Rockford (Cancelled)  

The game has been cancelled due to rain and will not be made up as the two teams do not play each other again this season.

Kenosha 2, Fond du Lac 4

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders used a big fifth and defeated the Kenosha Kingfish 4-2. Fondy got one in the first when Alex Erro (Northwestern) hit an RBI single. Erro knocked in another in the fifth while Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) hit an RBI single and another scored on a bases loaded walk. The Kingfish scored on a wild pitch and a bases loaded walk in the seventh while Mitch Ebben (Northwestern Ohio) threw the final two for his second save.

Mankato 3, Waterloo 5

The Mankato MoonDogs used two innings and defeated the Waterloo Bucks 5-3. Waterloo got three in the second which was powered by Trey Leonard (Louisville) hitting a two-run single. Mankato got one in the fourth from CJ Huntley (Indiana State) hitting an RBI single. Huntley knocked in another in the sixth and then tied it in the seventh with his third RBI. The Bucks took the lead from an RBI by Leonard while one more came from an RBI single by Angelo Altavilla (Nebraska). Joshua Culliver (Minnesota) threw 1.1 in relief for his second win while Justin Mulvaney (Northern Colorado) threw the final inning for his first save.

Wisconsin Rapids 1, Madison 7 (7 Innings)

The Madison Mallards used a big third inning and defeated the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 7-1 in a rain-shortened game. Tyler Plantier (Richmond) jacked a grand slam in the third which sparked a six-run inning for Madison. Rapids got its only run from Mitch Mallek (St. Cloud State) driving one in after hitting into a double play. Jake Randa (NW Florida State) then led off the bottom half with a homer and Rapids went down six straight as the game was called due to rain.

Battle Creek 1, Green Bay 0 (2nd Innings) (Postponed to: July 28, 4:05 PM)

The game has been suspended in the 2nd innings due to weather. The game will be finished to nine innings as part of a doubleheader on July 28 in Battle Creek at 4:05 PM EST. The regularly scheduled game will take place afterwards and it will be seven innings.

Eau Claire 3, St. Cloud 9 (7 Innings) (Game 2)

The St. Cloud Rox used the middle innings of a seven-inning game to defeat the Eau Claire Express 9-3. The Express scored first in the opening inning on an RBI single by Alex Trela (Memphis). The Express went up two in the second on an error, but St. Cloud put up five in the next inning. Two scored from an error while Bobby Seymour (Wake Forest) hit a double which scored another and a pass ball and sac fly scored the rest. Four more scored on wild pitches, an error and RBI single by Jack Barrie in the fourth. The Express managed one more in the fifth as Kyle Richardson (Texas A&M) threw the final 3.1 for the Rox to pick up his fourth win.

La Crosse 3, Willmar 9 (7 Innings) (Game 2)

The Willmar Stingers used the middle innings to defeat the La Crosse Loggers 9-3. The Stingers got on the board in the fourth with four. One scored on an error while Joey Ortiz (New Mexico State) and Davis Elliot (North Alabama) knocked in runs from hits. La Crosse cut its deficit in half in the fifth on an error and RBI single by Mike Rothenberg (Duke). The Stingers though responded for five in the fifth as Elliot and Davis both knocked in another run each and Shea Kramer (Utah) doubled in two. The Loggers scored once in the seventh on a wild pitch, but the batter grounded out to end the game.
