La Crosse jumped all over Thunder Bay in their first game of a doubleheader by scoring 22 runs. There’s a three-way tie for first in the North with Willmar, Duluth and Mankato. Kenosha extended their winning streak to three and now lead Madison by 2.5 in the second half south standings.

 

Madison 3, Rockford 1

The Madison Mallards used the middle innings to get ahead and defeat the Rockford Rivets 3-1. The Mallards jumped on the board first in the fourth when Trevor Boone (Oklahoma State) hit an RBI single. Madison got another in the fifth and sixth on RBI singles. Rockford scored in the bottom half when Cade Bunnell (Indiana) hit an RBI single. Justin Watland (San Jose State) threw the first seven, allowed just the one run on two hits and one walk while striking out nine for his third win. Nicholes Morales (San Jose State) threw the final two and earned his fifth save.

Fond du Lac 8, Green Bay 0

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders threw two pitchers in an 8-0 complete game shutout of the Green Bay Bullfrogs. Ryan Gowens (Arizona) threw the first five scoreless for the Frogs. Fondy then went off in the sixth which was started by Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) hit an RBI single while Mitch Boe (Iowa) reached on an error as two runs scored. Austin Wagner (Ellsworth CC) threw 6.2 scoreless on just five hits and three walks while striking out four for his sixth win. Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss) led off the eighth with a homer Nate Madej (Florida Southwestern) threw the final 2.1 to end the game.

Waterloo 6, Bismarck 1

The Waterloo Bucks used three innings to build a lead and defeat the Bismarck Larks 6-1. The Larks got on the board first in the opening inning. The Bucks tied it with an RBI double in the third and then took the lead from an RBI ground out. Myles Emmerson (Cal Poly) knocked in two from a single in the fifth for Waterloo. The Bucks got another in the eighth to help Ryan Lane (Kent State) pick up his second win after throwing five innings, allowing just one run and four hits while striking out three. Jakob Kirman (Clarke) threw the final four scoreless and got his first save.

Wisconsin 3, Battle Creek 5

The Battle Creek Bombers used two innings to build a lead and defeat the Wisconsin Woodchucks 5-3. Wisconsin got one in the fourth on an RBI single by Domenic DeRenzo (Oklahoma). The Bombers tied it on a wild pitch while Connor Bailey (Willamette) and Mason Jones (Trevecca Nazarene) hit an RBI single. The Chucks tied it in the sixth which was capped off by Alex Toral (Miami) going deep. The Bombers took the lead for good with two in the seventh on a pass ball and sac fly as Carter Bair (MTSU) threw the final two for the save.

Thunder Bay 9, La Crosse 22

The La Crosse Loggers jumped all over the Thunder Bay Border Cats, including 11 in the first and won the game 22-9. All 11 runs came on 11 hits. Austin Murr hit a two-run single and an RBI single. Braiden Ward (Washington) hit two singles while two runs scored and Harrison Freed (Butler) did the same thing. The Border Cats got their first in the second on an RBI double by Dylan Caplinger (Northern Oklahoma Enid). Freed knocked in another in a two-run second. Thunder Bay got three in the third as Brandon Trammell (Tennessee) hit a two-run double. Armani Smith (UCSB) went deep to lead off the bottom half for the Loggers. The Loggers put up four in the fourth and fifth as Mike Rothenberg (Duke) went deep. The Cats battled back for four in the eighth and one in the ninth, but the deficit was too much as La Crosse won the game.

St. Cloud 2, Mankato 5

The Mankato MoonDogs put up four in the sixth which was enough to defeat the St. Cloud Rox 5-2. The MoonDogs got their first in the opening inning from a sac fly by Kyle MacDonald (Arkansas State). The Rox tied it in the fourth on an error. The Dogs then took the lead in the sixth from a wild pitch and RBI singles by Garrett Mitchell (UCLA) and RJ Teijeiro (UCLA). St. Cloud did get a run in the ninth on an RBI single by Hance Smith (Cal), but the side was retired to end the game.

Duluth 1, Willmar 3

The Willmar Stingers used a big fourth to take the lead and defeat the Duluth Huskies 3-1. The fourth inning saw three runs come for Willmar on a pass ball and a two-run shot by Jayson Newman (Cal-State Northridge). Hayden Schenefield (Cal State Northridge) did throw a complete eight innings for the Huskies, allowed just he one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out three. Louie Varland (Concordia-St. Paul) threw seven innings, allowed just one unearned run with six hits, two walks and five strike outs. The run for Duluth came in the sixth on a ground out while the bullpen took care of the rest.

Wisconsin Rapids 2, Kalamazoo 1

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters survived a pitcher’s duel and defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers 2-1. Josh Aguilar (Bellevue) threw the first five scoreless for the Rafters, allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out five to put him in line for his first win. Rapids scored a pair in the fourth on a bases loaded walk and a fly out which scored an unearned run. Kalamazoo scored its only run in the seventh from an RBI single by Matt Mervis (Duke), but Rapids shut them down in-order to end the game.

Rochester 4, Eau Claire 2 (8 Innings)

The Rochester Honkers used an important seventh inning to take the lead and defeat the Eau Claire Express 4-2. The Honkers scored first in the third on an RBI single by Nate Webb (UC Riverside). Eau Claire tied it in the fourth on an RBI single from Nick Brueser (Stanford). The Express took the lead in the fifth from a solo shot by Mitchell Buban (UW-Milwaukee). Rochester then went ahead in the eighth from back-to-back home runs by Matt Hardy (UC Riverside) and Christian Robinson (Stanford). Zach Sundine (Lamar CC) then threw the final three in a rain-shortened game for his second win.

Lakeshore 8, Kenosha 11 (14 Innings)

The Kenosha Kingfish battled all game, scored more in the 14th and defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks 11-8. The Kingfish got one in the first on an RBI double by Will Wagner (Liberty). The Chinooks got four in the bottom half from three RBI singles by Jim Govern (Eastern Illinois), Christian Boulware and Dominic Clementi (Michigan). Lakeshore got another two in the second. The Kingfish responded for four in the third which was powered by three errors. Kenosha finally tied it in the fourth on an RBI single by Evan McDonald (Farleigh Dickinson). Carl Renz (Iowa Lakes CC) threw 4.1 in relief and allowed just the one run on three hits for Lakeshore. Jack Zimmerman (Kent State) threw 4.2 innings scoreless and struck out seven for his third win. The Kingfish went ahead in the 14th with five which was powered by a grand slam from Marty Bechina (Michigan State). The Chinooks did get two base-knocks in the bottom half, but the side was retired to end the game.

Green Bay 6, Fond du Lac 10

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders battled all game and defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 10-6. Fondy got three in the opening inning which was started by an RBI single from Tyler Wardwell (Duke). The Frogs got on the board in the second from Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) hitting an RBI single. The Spiders though responded for three in the bottom half when Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina) hit a two-run double. The same thing happened in the third and Green Bay got another in the fourth. Green Bay came within three in the fifth which was started by Andre Antone (UC Irvine) knocking in two from a double. The Spider got one more in the sixth as Connor Cook (UW-La Crosse) converted a four-inning save.

Mankato 5, St. Cloud 4 (10 Innings)

The Mankato MoonDogs scored the go-ahead in the top of the tenth and defeated the St. Cloud Rox 5-4. Mankato got a pair in the first on a single by CJ Huntley (Indiana State). The Rox tied it in the fourth when Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) led off the inning with a homer. St. Cloud took the lead on an unearned run in the fifth, but the Dogs took the lead in the sixth on a two-run single by Zac Wiley (Bellarmine). Connor Aube (UTA) tied it and forced extras in the bottom of the ninth from an RBI double. Huntley delivered again for Mankato in the 10th with an RBI double which went on to win the game.

Waterloo 0, Bismarck 5

The Bismarck Larks got eight innings out of Hendry Rodriguez (LSUA) in their 5-0 shutout of the Waterloo Bucks. Bismarck got its first three in the fourth on a home run by Matthew Warkentin (Xavier). Bismarck got another two in the sixth on an error and RBI single from Conner Bock (Cal). Rodriguez allowed just six hits and four walks while striking out 10 for his fifth win.

Rochester 13, Eau Claire 5

The Rochester Honkers used a big seventh inning and defeated the Eau Claire Express 13-5. The Honkers got two in the third as Logan Denholm (UC Davis) hit an RBI single. Rochester got four which was started by Taylor Adams (Oregon) hitting a home run and Christian Robinson (Stanford) driving home two from a single. The Honkers got seven in the seventh which was powered by Denholm clearing the bases from a single. The Express did manage five in the ninth as David LaManna (Notre Dame) cleared the bases from a double, but Rochester retired the side to end the game.

Kenosha 9, Lakeshore 2 (6 Innings)

The Kenosha Kingfish used the third and fourth to defeat the Lakeshore Chinooks 9-2 in a curfew-shortened game. The Kingfish scored four in the third which started with Jack Yalowitz (Illinois) hitting an RBI single and later scoring. The Kingfish got another five in the fourth which was powered by Marty Bechina (Michigan State) hitting a three-run shot. The Chinooks two came on RBI doubles by Dallas Beaver (UCF) and Sam Kohnle (Winona State), but the next guy struck out to end the game.

Wisconsin Rapids 12, Kalamazoo 4

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters used the early innings to build a lead and defeat the Kalamazoo Growlers 12-4. Rapids got four in the first which was powered by Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) hitting a home run. The Rafters got another in the second, but Kalamazoo put up one in the bottom half from Zach Daniels (Tennessee) hitting an RBI single. Rapids scored one from a bases loaded walk in the third and then five more in the fourth from a two-run single by Ethan Stringer (Louisville). The Growlers got two more in the bottom half form Daniels hitting a single. Kalamazoo scored its fourth in the sixth. The Rafters put up one more in the ninth as Cole Waiters (West Alabama) threw the final three scoreless.

Rockford 4, Madison 1

The Rockford Rivets used an important seventh and defeated the Madison Mallards 4-1. Dane Haveman (Texas Tech) threw five scoreless for the Rivets and struck out five. Jonah Smith (Creighton) threw four scoreless and struck out two for the Mallards. Madison got on the board first in the sixth on a sac fly. The Rivets then tied it in seventh on an RBI ground out while Parker Bates (Louisiana Tech) gave them the lead from a two-run double while pinch hitting. The Rivets got one more in the ninth as Tanner Propst (Louisiana Tech) threw the final inning for his second save.

Thunder Bay 0, La Crosse 2

The La Crosse Loggers held the Thunder Bay Border Cats to just three hits and won the game 2-0. Ryan Anderson (Nevada) threw seven scoreless for La Crosse, allowed just four hits while striking out eight batters. The Loggers first came in the opening inning on a bases loaded walk. La Crosse got one more in the sixth on a solo shot by Korey Lee (Cal). Trent Sidwell (Illinois-Springfield) then threw the final two for his first save.

Wisconsin 3, Battle Creek 7

The Battle Creek Bombers went off in the seventh and defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 7-3. The Chucks got a pair in the fourth from a homer by Reese Alexiades (Pepperdine). The Bombers got one in the bottom half on an RBI single by Zach Gartner (East Texas Baptist). Alexiades led off the seventh with a dinger, but the Bombers took the lead with six runs in the seventh. Riley Tirotta (Dayton) led off scoring with an RBI single as two more scored from the bat of Connor Bailey (Willamette) while the bullpen took care of the final two innings.

Duluth 1, Willmar 6

The Willmar Stingers used a big second inning and defeated the Duluth Huskies 6-1. The second inning started with Joey Ortiz (New Mexico State) knocking in two from a single. They got another in the third on a bases loaded walk. The Huskies got on the board in the fifth on a bases loaded walk, but Matt Rudick (San Diego State) hit an RBI single in the bottom half. Sam Gardner (Alabama) threw six for Willmar, allowed just one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out four for the win.
