The Duluth Huskies offense came out tonight with 17 runs while winning the North Divisional Championship. Fond du Lac won again on the road, this time in Kalamazoo, setting up the Summer Collegiate World Series for the Huskies vs. the Dock Spiders.

 

Fond du Lac 3, Kalamazoo 1

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders tacked on an insurance run in the fifth and defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers 3-1. Fondy got it first in the second on an RBI single by Braden Stutzman (Oregon). Both teams got runs in the third as Zac Taylor (Illinois) hit a homer for the Spiders and Matt Mervis (Duke) singled one in for the Growlers. Fond then got one more in the fifth when Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss) hit an RBI single. Sam Hubbe (Butler) threw seven in his start for the Dock Spiders, allowed just one run on five hits while striking out eight. Michael Hope (Shippensburg) then came on and threw a two-inning save.

Duluth 17, Willmar 7

The Duluth Huskies jumped all over the Willmar Stingers and won the game 17-7. Davis Elliott (North Alabama) scored first for the Stingers in the third on an RBI single. Duluth managed to tie it in the fifth and then they went off in the sixth as Michael McCann (Texas) doubled in two. They scored three in the seventh as McCann drove in another two on a single. The Huskies put up five in the eighth as McCann went deep for two. Another pair came in the ninth, but Willmar wasn’t done. They put up six on an error, two bases loaded walks and an RBI fielder’s choice which was all started from Tyler Reichenborn (Iowa Western) hitting an RBI double. Sean Watkins (Cal State LA) came in, got the next three guys in-order and ended the game for Duluth.
