T-2 Days Until the Northwoods League Playoffs Begin and the Teams are Feeling the Heat

The Rochester Honkers dominated the Mankato MoonDogs with an ending game score of 11-2. Rochester’s Mitchell Allen (New Mexico State University) hit two doubles and three RBI. Traverse City Pit Spitters defeated the Kalamazoo Growlers with a final score of 8-1. Traverse Cities Hudson Byorick (Wofford) hit two home runs along with one double and two RBI.

Battle Creek Bombers 4, Kenosha Kingfish 3

The Battle Creek Bombers defeated the Kenosha Kingfish with a close battle and final score of 4-3. The Bombers had a total of four runs and thirteen hits throughout tonights game. Battle Creek’s Seth Tucker (Hendrix) hit one triple and one RBI. Kenosha’s Connor Mang (New Mexico) had two RBI and one double. The winning pitcher was Bombers Kevin Smith (Compton College) who pitched one inning giving up no runs and no hits. The games saving pitcher was Beaux Bonvillain (Central Oklahoma) while the losing pitcher was Kingfish’s Owen Reith (Carthage College). 

St. Cloud Rox 4, Thunder Bay Border Cats 0 (Game #1) 

The St. Cloud Rox shut out the Thunder Bay Border Cats with a final score of 4-0.  The Rox pulled through during the seventh innings bridging the gap between the Border Cats for the win. St. Cloud’s Jordan Barth (Augustana University), Lenny Walker (St. Cloud State University), and Luke Ira (South Dakota State University) received one RBI each. The games winning pitcher was Garett Delano (Brown University) who pitched seven innings with no runs, three hits, and five strike outs. The losing pitcher was Thunder Bay’s Brendan Cindric (Pepperdine University (CA)). 

St. Cloud Rox 3, Thunder Bay Border Cats  7 (Game #2)

The Thunder Bay Border Cats defeated the St. Cloud Rox during game #2, splitting the teams doubleheader. The final score was 7-3. Border Cats Jakob Newton (Florida Tech) hit four RBI and one double during tonights game. Another strong performance was by Thunder Bay’s Alex Dafoe (Friends University (KS)) who received one double and one RBI. The winning pitcher was Peyton Burks (Arkansas at Pine Bluff) who pitched six innings with three runs and three strike outs. The games losing pitcher was St. Cloud’s Trae Robertson (Missouri).

The Rochester Honkers dominated the Mankato MoonDogs with an ending game score of 11-2. The Honkers demolished the second inning scoring seven runs to begin the lead over the MoonDogs during tonights game. Rochester’s Mitchell Allen (New Mexico State University) hit two doubles and three RBI. Another solid performance was by teammate Andy Armstrong (Oregon State University) who had one double and three RBI. The games winning pitcher was Mike Lopez (Cal State San Marcos) who gave up one run, two hits, and three strike outs during his six innings of work. The losing pitcher was Mankato’s Josh Ramirez (Washburn). 

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders 13, Madison Mallards 5

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders demolished the Madison Mallards with a final score of 13-5. The Spiders came right out of the gates swinging scoring six runs during the first inning. Tate Kolwyck (Vanderbilt) hit one home run along with two doubles and four RBI for the Fond du Lac’s. Teammate Ryan Sepede (BYU) also had one home run and two RBI during tonights game. The Spiders winning pitcher was Evan Sankey (North Dakota St.) who pitched five innings with five runs and two strike outs. Brock Weirather (Grinnell College) was the games saving pitched who gave up no runs and three hits during his three innings at the mound. The losing pitcher was Madison’s Patrick Foldy (Madison College).  

Bismarck Larks 5, La Crosse Loggers 6

The La Crosse Loggers won against the Bismarck Larks with a final score of 6-5. The Loggers had a total of six runs and fourteen hits throughout tonights game. Damon Lux (Duke) had one home run and three RBI for the Larks. La Crosse’s Cole Elvis (California) received two RBI and one double. The winning pitcher was Jared Freilich (Penn State) who pitched one inning with no runs and one strike outs. The losing pitcher was Bismarck’s Max Tannebaum (Babson College). 

Eau Claire Express 11, Waterloo Bucks 6

The Eau Claire Express beat the Waterloo Bucks with a final score of 11-6. The Express had a total of eleven runs and fourteen hits throughout tonights game to defeat the Bucks. Eau Claire’s Zach Gilles (Central Michigan) who had two triples and three RBI. David LaManna (Notre Dame) hit three RBI and one double. Peyton Sherlin (Dallas Baptist) was the games winning pitcher with no runs, no hits, and three strike outs during his two innings of work. The losing pitcher was Waterloo’s Dylan Phillips (Kansas State). 

Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 14, Lakeshore Chinooks 2

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters beat the Lakeshore Chinooks with an ending game score of 14-2. The Rafters had a total of fourteen runs and nineteen hits throughout tonights game. Wisconsin’s Anthony Galason (Elon University) hit one home run, one triple, one double, and two RBI. Another strong performance was by Rafters Richie Schiekofer (Rutgers) had two doubles and two RBI. Jack Sinclair (UCF) who gave up two runs, four hits, and three strike outs during his six innings at the mound was the games winning pitcher. The losing pitcher was Lakeshore’s Aaron Winkler (Richmond). 

Duluth Huskies 1, Willmar Stingers 9

The Willmar Stingers beat the Duluth Huskies with an ending game score of 9-1. The Stingers had a total of nine runs and ten hits throughout tonights game. James Gamble (Nevada-Las Vegas) hit three RBI and one triple from Willmar. The games winning pitcher was Christopher Peres (La Verne) who pitched six innings with one run, two hits, and five strike outs. The losing pitcher was Duluth’s Travis Booth (California Baptist).  

Green Bay Booyah 3, Wisconsin Woodchucks 6

The Wisconsin Woodchucks beat the Green Bay Booyah with an ending game score of 6-3. The Woodchucks had a total of six runs and eight hits throughout tonights game. Booyah Jacob Buchberger (Davenport) hit one home run and two RBI. Kyle Simmons (Lynn University) received one RBI and one triple from Wisconsin. The Woodchucks winning pitcher was Micheal Novak (Spring Hill College) with two runs and two strike outs during his four innings at the mound. The saving pitcher was Wisconsin’s Joey Hennessey (Palm Beach Atlantic) while the losing pitcher was Green Bay’s Bobby Dorta (Millersville). 

Traverse City Pit Spitters 8, Kalamazoo Growlers 1

The Traverse City Pit Spitters dominated the Kalamazoo Growlers with a final score of 8-1. The Pit Spitters had an impressive seventh inning scoring four runs to steal the win over the Growlers. Traverse Cities Hudson Byorick (Wofford) hit two home runs along with one double and two RBI. Teammate Michael Slaten (Benedictine College) received two RBI during tonights game. The games winning pitcher was Austin Shea (Toccoa Falls) who pitched six innings with one run and five strike outs. The losing pitcher was Kalamazoo’s Travis Snyder (St. Clair College). 

Rockford Rivets 2, Kokomo Jackrabbits 3

The Kokomo Jackrabbits rallied in the sixth and seventh innings against the Rockford Rivets to capture the win. The ending game score was 4-3. Rivets Matt Higgins (Bellarmine) and Cory Wright (Valdosta State) had one double and one RBI each. Jack Kraus (UW-Milwaukee) hit two RBI for the Jackrabbits. Lucas Folmar (Mercyhurst) was Kokomo’s winning pitcher who gave up one run, six hits, and six strike outs. Jackrabbits Joey Haass (Delaware) came in for the save while the losing pitcher was Rockford’s Zack Jones (Rockford).
