The Kalamazoo Mac Daddies picked up a doubleheader sweep of the Battle Creek Bombers on Thursday night, while the Bismarck Larks picked up a rain-shortened win over the Mandan Flickertails.

The Mac Daddies scored three runs in the top of the third and got a stellar relief outing from Jack Huisman (Western Michigan) to top the Bombers in game one Thursday. Huisman threw three hitless innings, recording four strikeouts to earn his second save of the season. He came on in relief of Patrick Arndt (Bellarmine), who threw two scoreless innings, allowing a hit. Anthony Calarco (Northwestern) had the only hit of the game for Kalamazooo, with it being a two-run home run in the third.

The Mac Daddies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, then held off a late Battle Creek rally to sweep the doubleheader. Shawn Goosenberg (Northwestern) was 2-3 for Kalamazoo, with a run scored. Calarco was the other Kalamazoo batter to record multiple hits, going 2-2 while also drawing a walk. Ben Grable (Northwestern) picked up the win for the Mac Daddies, throwing two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out six of the nine batters he faced. Dane Armbrustmacher (Western Michigan) picked up the save, throwing three innings with five strikeouts.

The Resorters put up three runs in the bottom of the fifth to top the Pit Spitters Thursday night. Aaron Hurd (Lyon College) went 2-3 for the Resorters, with a double and an RBI. Chase Bessard (Lansing CC) was 1-1, with a double and two RBI. Jonathan Russomano (Corban University) picked up the win, throwing two and two-thirds of an inning, allowing a run while striking out one batter. Jeffrey Millet (Ramapo College) threw a clean seventh to pick up his first save of the season.

Bismarck Larks 5 Mandan Flickertails 3
The Larks scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, as the skies opened up and poured rain on the field, forcing the game to end early. Cal James (University of Mary) went 3-4 for the Larks, with two doubles and three runs scored. Dak Finley (Garden City CC) was 2-4, with a run scored and an RBI while Cole Hage (Columbia University) had two RBI on the night. Aj Buchman (University of Mary) threw five innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts. Andrew Brooks (University of Mary) came on and threw two scoreless relief innings, with three strikeouts to pick up the win.
