\n\t(Duluth, MN) — The Duluth Huskies have announced today that they have signed three new players from University of West Florida Argonauts. Joining the Huskies for the 2014 campaign are Chase Kiefer, Josh McLaney, and Kevin Peters.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tChase Kiefer is a 5-foot-11 inch 170 lbs. sophomore out of Pensacola, FL. He has been a mainstay in the Argo lineup this season; he has seen action in both the infield and outfield.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tManager Daniel Hersey had a few words about Chase’s impact on the Huskies: “We will look for Chase to be valuable utility player for us this summer. He has hit in the top of the order and bottom of the order because of his speed and has 17 stolen bases this season.”\n<\/p>\n
\n\tJosh McLaney, a 6-foot-6 inch 185 lbs. sophomore righthander from Laurel Hills, FL, has emerged as a mainstay in the UWF bullpen. He is sporting an ERA of 1.56 in 17.1 innings with a record of 1-1.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n \n\tKevin Peters is a 5-foot-11 inch 165 lbs. junior lefthander and hails from Orlando, FL. He has seen quality innings for the Argos this season. He has pitched both out of the bullpen as well as in the starting role. He sports a 3.97 ERA in 22.2 innings with a 3-2 record. \n<\/p>\n \n\t“We are excited to start our relationship with the University of West Florida, they are a program that produces quality player’s year in and year out and we are looking forward to having Kiefer, McLaney, and Peters in our organization,” said Field Manager Daniel Hersey.\n<\/p>\n \n\t"We are extremely happy to be sending our players to play for such a first class Coach in Daniel Hersey and The Duluth Huskies. They are excited for the experience and we know they will return better baseball players for the future of our program here at UWF,” said Assistant Coach Shane Gierke.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 115 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including MLB All-Stars Max Scherzer (DET), Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYY), Allen Craig (STL) and Ben Zobrist (TB).
