\n\tThe Duluth Huskies (18-16) beat the Rochester Honkers (7-26) Sunday afternoon at Mayo Field.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tFor the second day in a row the Huskies beat the Honkers by a score of 13-8 and extended their winning streak to 5 games.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Honkers took the lead in the 1st<\/sup> inning when Kyle Kasser scored on a Casey Worden single; the Honkers added another run in the 2nd<\/sup> inning when Turner Buis drew a bases loaded walk to score Jacob Thomas. In the top of the third the Huskies batted around the order and plated 5 runs. The runs were scored by David Kyriacou, Daniel Amaral, Liam Sabino, Dillon Paulson, and Justin Ambrosino. The Huskies lead would not last however as the Honkers scored 4 runs in their portion of the 3rd<\/sup> inning making the score 6-5 Honkers. The Huskies would retake the lead in the top of the 4th<\/sup> thanks to sac flies by Sabino and Paulson and would never look back. They would add to that lead in the top of the 5th<\/sup> thanks to a lead-off homerun by Reid Long; in the top of the 7th<\/sup> when Kyriacou and Amaral both scored; and in the top of the 8th<\/sup> when Long led off with his 2nd<\/sup> homerun of the day and Carter Hanford and Jake Pries both scored later-on in the inning to make the Huskies score 13.\n<\/p>\n \n\tAlex Ferguson got the start for the Huskies and threw 2.1 innings allowing 6 runs on 7 hits walking 4. He was replaced by David Kroger. Kroger picked up the win after throwing 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 3 hits walking 3 and striking out 1. Drew Mullinax pitched the final 2 innings and allowed 0 runs on 0 hits.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Honkers, already having a stressed pitching staff, had a rough day as they sent 6 different guys to the mound, including 2 position players. Max Gamboa got the start for the Honkers and tossed 2.1 innings allowing 3 runs. He was replaced by Sam Bjorngjeld who tossed 0.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Robert Paccione was the third pitcher used by the Honkers. He picked up the loss after tossing 1.0 inning and allowing 1 run. Tanner Schumacher was the four pitcher used by the Honkers. He pitched 2.0 innings allowing 1 run. Keaton Weisz was the first position player to take the mound for the Honkers in the game. He went 1.0 inning and allowed 5 runs. Drew Ellis was the second position player used by the Honkers. He pitched the final 2 innings and was the only Honkers pitcher to not allow a run.\n<\/p>\n \n\tDaniel Amaral had a monster day at the plate and on the base-paths for the Huskies today. He went 5-5 with 3 runs scored, 2RBIs, 1 walk, and 4 stolen bases.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Huskies will return to Wade Stadium on Monday, July 4 to battle the Willmar Stingers.
