{"id":4127,"date":"2018-04-09T18:50:04","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T18:50:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/duluth-huskies\/?p=4127"},"modified":"2018-04-09T18:50:04","modified_gmt":"2018-04-09T18:50:04","slug":"duluth-huskies-make-two-more-roster-additions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/duluth-huskies\/2018\/04\/09\/duluth-huskies-make-two-more-roster-additions\/","title":{"rendered":"Duluth Huskies Make Two More Roster Additions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Pouelsen and Mitzel Acquired for 2018<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Duluth, Minn.\u2014The Duluth Huskies have added two more players for the 2018 season.\u00a0 The new players are Logan Pouelsen (RHP, 1B, 3B) from Huntington Beach, California, and Tyler Mitzel (RHP) from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Logan Pouelsen is in his sophomore season at the University of Hawaii (Honolulu, HI).\u00a0 As a freshman he appeared in 37 games, with 27 hits in 98 at-bats, driving in 10 runs and scoring 17 times.\u00a0 Defensively, he had a fielding percentage of .993, with 138 put-outs, four assists and only one error.\u00a0 In his current season, he has also spent some time on the mound.\u00a0 He has thrown 25.2 innings in eight appearances, with one complete game, including a shutout.\u00a0 He has an ERA of 4.56.\u00a0 At the plate this season, he has a batting average of .280 in 21 games played.\u00a0 He has 14 hits, eight RBIs and five runs scored.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Mitzel is a senior at Augustana University (Sioux Falls, SD.).\u00a0 His college baseball career started before he transferred to Augustana.\u00a0 He appeared in 17 games for the Arkansas State Red Wolves with nine starts.\u00a0 He threw a total of 64.1 innings and kept his ERA to 4.76.\u00a0 \u00a0He struck out 47 batters and walked 32.\u00a0 Now pitching for the Vikings in 2018, he has five appearances, four starts and a perfect 4-0 record.\u00a0 He\u2019s thrown 24.1 innings, allowing only five earned runs, striking out 22 and walking seven, with an impressive 1.85 ERA.<\/p>\n<p>Pouelsen and Mitzel have shown their talents in their college careers, and have proven to be strong roster additions for the Huskies and should both strengthen the Huskies\u2019 offense and build to their bullpen depth.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskies open the 2018 season with five road games, but open at Wade Stadium Sunday, June 3rd against the Eau Claire Express.
