Duluth, Minn —\u00a0 The Duluth Huskies Baseball Club is proud to announce the signing of two new men to the 2020 Huskies, Hamilton Martinez a Righthanded Pitcher and Miguel Larreal positioned at shortstop. The adding of these two can only enhance an already great roster for this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Miguel Larreal is from Venezuela and is currently a freshman on the Hillsborough Community College team.\u00a0 He is most looking forward to \u201cexperiencing different places as well as playing in front of different people.\u201d He heard about the team from his college coach along with knowing about the overall Northwoods League. When asked why he plays the game it becomes a little bit more personal. \u201c…<\/span> since I was a little kid I would look up to my dad and grandfather and wanted to be like them one day.\u201d His family and growing up with the game also lead to when he started playing, which as he says is \u201c As soon as I could grab a bat\u201d. It is very obvious that Miguel is a dedicated player and that is exactly how he explains himself,\u00a0 \u201cI feel like when I need to get something done or go after it I will get it done.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Hamilton Martinez is a Righthanded pitcher from the Dominic Republic and is currently a freshman at Hillsborough as well. He is most looking forward to\u00a0 \u201c…winning ball games, playing in front of people I\u2019ve never even met before & just experiencing different states\u201d He started playing at the young age of 4, \u201c…My family is what made me play the sport, living in the Dominican Republic, baseball is culture out there, just went with the flow and ended up here.\u201d Martinez explained himself as determined, \u201c I\u2019m so determined to get what I want in anything I do.\u201d This determination is exactly what the team will need this 2020 season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These men have so much in common already with being teammates, both growing up with baseball in their families, and now being apart of the Duluth Huskies. The Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. <\/span><\/i>The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Having completed its\u2019 26<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 230 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and MLB All-Stars Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (MIA).
