Duluth, Minn —\u00a0 The Duluth Huskies are proud to announce the signing of three new players for the 2020 season, Ronnie Voacolo, Ryan Solimine, and Luke Seidel. As baseball season is right around the corner the Huskies are excited to fill the roster with very talented baseball players you won\u2019t want to miss.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronnie Voacolo is a 6\u20193\u201d right-handed pitcher from Hamilton, New Jersey and is a Junior at Southeastern University. He transferred from Mercer County Community College where he played his first two years of college ball. The game has always been in his life, \u201cAs a baby, I was dressed up in Yankees clothing and my dad and I would always play catch in the backyard growing up…\u201d As his favorite part about the sport is the preparation before a game, \u201c<\/span> I love the feeling of knowing that it is game day and that all the hard work we put in as a team will show on the field when it is game time.\u201d Voacolo is nervous to play in a new atmosphere, but his excitement of meeting all his new teammates and fans out ways any nerves.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ryan Solimine is a 6\u20190\u201d right-handed pitcher from Danbury, CT and is a Junior at Mitchell College where he has been the starting pitcher the last two years. He started playing the game at a young age and knew from the beginning he wanted to go to the Majors. His favorite part of the game is being on the mound, \u201cI love my teammates wherever I go and I love the game so much.\u201d He also describes himself as a very dedicated player and that is exactly what he plans on bringing to the Northwoods League and more specifically the Duluth Huskies this summer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Luke Seidel is a 5\u201911\u201d second baseman and outfielder from Inverness, Illinois and is a Sophomore at Triton College. Just like the other two, baseball has always been apart of his life, \u201cMy dad played in the minor leagues for the Cubs so he got me into it and I\u2019ve loved it ever since.” His favorite part of the game is making plays happen. Seidel isn’t nervous coming into the Northwoods League, in fact, he is excited to develop his game more and meet all his new teammates and fans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. <\/span><\/i>The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Having completed its\u2019 26<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 230 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and MLB All-Stars Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (MIA).
