After falling 5-0 against Waterloo on Memorial Day, the Huskies defeated the Bucks by a score of 10-6. It looked as if the early season jitterbugs may have still been an issue when Arkansas pitcher, Will McEntire took the hill at The Wade. Struggling to find the strike zone early, McEntire saw one run cross the plate on an error from the shortstop and another after a single from Daniel Irisarri in the top half of the 1<sup>st<\/sup>. The bottom half is where Duluth found their offensive gold. Six straight Huskies reached base in the 1<sup>st,<\/sup> and they plated four runs while chasing Waterloo starter and UCONN commit, Curren Larson.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> inning where Kimo Fukofuka hit a frozen rope over the left field wall, bats went quiet through the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> and 4<sup>th<\/sup>. Waterloo picked up two runs in the top of the 5<sup>th<\/sup> against Huskies\u2019 reliever, Caden Griffin. With two outs and no one on in the bottom of the 7<sup>th<\/sup>, the floor fell through for Waterloo. A couple of walks led to Waterloo\u2019s reliever, Logan Jones, attempting to pick off Ambren Voitik at first base when the ball screeched past 1<sup>st<\/sup> Baseman Garrett McGown and headed toward the wall down the line. McGown then threw to third to try and catch Voitik again when the ball was thrown away again. Two errors on one play led to more miscues from the Bucks. All of the fun riding the basepaths carousel led to Duluth scoring four runs in the bottom of the 7<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Waterloo didn\u2019t see much more success at the plate the rest of the game until the top of the 9<sup>th<\/sup> against Huskies\u2019 closer, Nate Wohlgemuth. The Bucks added two runs to their tally to cut the Huskies\u2019 lead to four but Wohlgemuth was able to settle in and strike out Emiliano Gonzalez to end the game and secure Duluth\u2019s first win of the new season. Caden Griffin picked up the win (Griffin was the first reliever after McEntire who did not throw five innings) against Waterloo\u2019s Curren Larson. Cason Tollett (1-2) had four plate appearances and doubled in 3 RBI\u2019s and walked twice. Will McEntire tossed three innings of two hit, 2 run ball.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><em>###<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
