Duluth walked eight batters, and hit two St. Cloud Rox hitters as they lost their third straight game on the road. In the first five games through the season, the Huskies have averaged 7.6 walks per game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Max Pappas began his outing by allowing one unearned run through his first three innings of work. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Similar to<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Johnny Guzman the previous night, Pappas unraveled in the fourth and gave up the go ahead run on a wild pitch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the fifth, Brody Maynard entered the ballgame and four batters in, Travis Fisher greeted him with a two-run homer. In the sixth, Dylan Nedved added a sacrifice fly to bring home the Rox\u2019s fifth run.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Still, Pappas and Maynard were able to keep the game close after throwing seven innings combined. Unfortunately, the Huskies were blanked through the first seven by Rj Martinez. The Minot State Beaver went seven strong, allowing four hits, one run (earned), walking none, and striking out six. The lone run against Martinez came from a Kyle Westfall RBI double in the third.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perhaps the Huskies just needed a change of pace, but they put themselves back in the ballgame against reliever Dakota Hawkins in the 8<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Kyle Westfall drove in his second RBI of the night with a single. Ryan McDonald followed Kyle Westfall with an RBI fielder\u2019s choice. The next batter, Mike Boeve drove in Westfall with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit 5-4.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although Nate Wohlgemuth fired a scoreless eighth inning, the Huskies ran out of steam. Reliver Kevin Davis struck out the side in the ninth, and the last two Huskies went down looking. With the loss, the Duluth fell to 1-4, and St. Cloud improved to 1-2.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Duluth Huskies will face off against the St. Cloud Rox back at Wade Stadium at 3:05 on Saturday, June 5<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and look to win their second consecutive game at home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">###<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
