Maynard returns to Duluth in 2022, looking towards further growth<\/em><\/p>\n

Duluth, Minn.- Baseball will be back before we know it, Northland! As the 2022 season rolls closer, the roster is beginning to fill out, and not only<\/em> with unfamiliar names and faces. Brody Maynard has signed on to pitch for the second consecutive season at the Wade Stadium; a place he refers to as \u2018magical.\u2019<\/p>\n

Maynard, the lefty from Ponte Verde Beach, FL, saw action in 15 regular season games for the Huskies in 2021, pitching a total of 26.1 innings and facing 141 batters during that span. Prior to his transfer to the University of North Florida, Brody threw in 44 innings and registered 52 strikeouts at Daytona State. Despite logging those meaningful reps last year, the 20-year-old isn\u2019t satisfied. \u201cMy goals for 2022 are to really focus on what makes me successful and do that more frequently,\u201d he said. \u201cI had some struggles in 2021\u2026I\u2019ve really focused on my attitude and approach to training in the offseason, so I\u2019m excited to put forth a better product.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brody chose to return to Duluth this summer for several reasons. \u201cFirst of all, I really enjoyed getting to work with the coaches every day-they\u2019re really great at what they do,\u201d Maynard said. \u201cI also really enjoyed spending time around the city, experiencing what Duluth and its nature have to offer. The Duluth Huskies are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Having completed its\u2019 27th<\/sup>\u00a0season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, over 250 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and MLB Gold Glove finalist and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TOR).
