Built by the Coast<\/strong> is officially open to the entire community, and you have until June 26<\/strong> to put your team\u2011name idea on the record here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The packets are in.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Over the last few weeks, students up and down the Dune Coast picked up a Built by the Coast packet at school, wrote down a team name and dropped it off at the principal\u2019s office. We meant what we said: every single one gets read<\/strong>. Right now our team is doing exactly that \u2014 working through ideas, sketches, and one\u2011sentence arguments for why a name fits the Dune Coast.<\/p>\n

That was Part 1. This is Part 2.<\/p>\n

Now it\u2019s the community\u2019s turn.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Starting today, Built by the Coast opens up to everyone. Fans, families, alumni, business owners, lifelong locals, brand\u2011new neighbors \u2014 if you have an idea worth hearing, we want it. The online submission form is live, and the window is open through Thursday, June 26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Why we started with the schools<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We could have hired an agency in a faraway city to invent a name and hand it down. We didn\u2019t. A baseball team\u2019s name only sticks when the people who\u2019ll be cheering for it had a hand in choosing it \u2014 and the people who will be cheering loudest and longest are the kids walking into homeroom right now. So we gave them the first at\u2011bat before the final school bell rang.<\/p>\n

Now the lineup gets longer. This team belongs to the next generation, and it belongs to everyone who has ever watched the sun go down over the water out here. Part 2 is your turn.<\/strong><\/p>\n

How to submit<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s simple and takes about a minute:<\/p>\n

  1. Visit our Community Naming Initiative project here\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Type in your team\u2011name idea<\/li>\n
  3. Tell us in a sentence or two why it fits the Coast<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    That\u2019s it. No accounts to create. No fine print. Submit as many ideas as you like before the deadline.<\/p>\n

    What we\u2019re looking for<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    We\u2019re not after the cleverest pun or the safest choice. We\u2019re looking for the name that feels like this place<\/strong> \u2014 the dunes, the water, the towns strung along the shoreline, the summers worth driving in for. Tell us what the Dune Coast means to you and let the name follow from there.<\/p>\n

    The ideas that keep coming up, the imagery that captures the region, the spirit of what this team should stand for \u2014 that\u2019s what rises to the top.<\/p>\n

    What happens after June 26<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Once the community window closes, we\u2019ll read everything that came in \u2014 alongside the ideas the students sent us. From there, a slate of finalists goes to a region\u2011wide vote, so everyone has the final say on which name takes the field.<\/p>\n

    And then comes the moment we\u2019re already counting down to: a beachfront reveal event<\/strong> where the name is unveiled, the kids and community members whose ideas shaped it are recognized, and the team this region helped build officially becomes real.<\/p>\n
