{"id":2510,"date":"2014-07-14T18:25:37","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T18:25:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/eau-claire-express\/?p=2510"},"modified":"2014-07-14T19:49:20","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T19:49:20","slug":"hitting-diabetes-out-of-the-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/eau-claire-express\/2014\/07\/14\/hitting-diabetes-out-of-the-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Hitting diabetes out of the park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\">\n\t<strong style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 1.6em\"><em>The Eau Claire Express is hosting a Changing Diabetes Game Night to raise awareness<\/em><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>WHAT: Changing Diabetes Game Night<br \/>\n\tWHEN: Tuesday, July 15 at 6:35pm<br \/>\n\tWHERE: Carson Park, Eau Claire<br \/>\n\tFOR MORE INFORMATION: <\/strong><strong>Call Ashley Adkins at (715) 781 &#8211; 5460<br \/>\n\t<em>Members of the media are invited to attend; JDRF Youth Representative Mariah Miller will be available for interviews on-site starting at 5:30pm.&nbsp; Visuals will include Mariah throwing out the first pitch at 6:35pm.<\/em><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>EAU CLAIRE, Wis. &ndash; Monday, July 14, 2014<\/strong> &ndash;&nbsp; The Eau Claire Express is back to playing on their home field this Tuesday for a special Changing Diabetes Game Night after seven games on the road.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThis Changing Diabetes Game Night is sponsored by Novo Nordisk Inc. and the JDRF with partnership from Walgreens.&nbsp; Efforts will focus on diabetes awareness and raising money for the JDRF to help fund type 1 diabetes research.&nbsp; Walgreens will be selling $1.00 paper sneakers at the gates and the Eau Claire Express will donate $1.00 of every hotdog and popcorn tub sold at the game.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe first pitch will be thrown by JDRF Youth Representative, 15 year-old, Mariah Miller. &nbsp;Mariah&rsquo;s life changed drastically when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes five years ago. &nbsp;Mariah will be available for interviews throughout the game to share her story and educate others on diabetes.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tReduced priced tickets are still available at Walgreens, 1819 South Hastings Way, Eau Claire, with all proceeds benefiting the JDRF.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tGates open for the July 15<sup>th<\/sup> game at 5:30pm at Carson Park. &nbsp;The Express will be taking on Thunder Bay Border Cats with the first pitch beginning at 6:35pm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;For tickets visit our website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eauclaireexpress.com\/\">www.eauclaireexpress.com<\/a> or call the Express office at (715) 839-7788.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>The Eau Claire Express are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
