Out of all pitchers competing across the U.S., Roach&rsquo;s opening night performance stood out as the top outing on the mound.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRoach displayed dominant control and excellent speed on Opening Night of the 2016 Northwoods League season. He struck out the first 12 batters he faced, and ended up with 18 total strike outs which is the top total in the Northwoods League and set a new franchise record for the Express.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAgainst the Honkers, Roach did not allow a run and gave up just two hits in eight innings pitched, nearly posting a complete game in his first outing of the season. Roach relied heavily on the fastball in the victory, painting the corners of the strike zone and baffling the Honkers&rsquo; batters.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRoach, a native of Eau Claire and a graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School just completed his sophomore season at Minnesota State-Mankato. He ranked first on the team with a 3.34 ERA as well as in strikeouts with 89 (also led the NSIC conference). Roach&rsquo;s final outing of the season was an 11-inning complete game shut out.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe right-handed starter will rejoin the Express on June 12<sup>th<\/sup>, and will look to repeat his stellar pitching performance in his second start of the season shortly after returning to Eau Claire.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegiatesummerbaseball.com\/csb-pitcher-of-the-week\/\">http:\/\/www.collegiatesummerbaseball.com\/csb-pitcher-of-the-week\/<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSeason tickets,&nbsp;5-Game Packs, and single-game tickets are on sale now for Express home games. Playing its 23rd&nbsp;season of summer collegiate baseball in 2016, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
