Eau Claire gets commitments from Division 1 players<\/p><\/div>\n

Eau Claire, Wis. –\u00a0 The Eau Claire Express announced the addition of seven more players for the 2018 roster. All seven players join the Express from NCAA Division I baseball programs, three from Oklahoma State, a pair from Stanford and two more from Notre Dame.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Oklahoma State players are pitcher Peyton Battenfield, pitcher\/<\/span>\u200b<\/span>outfielder Noah Sifrit and catcher\/<\/span>\u200b<\/span>infielder Cody Milligan.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The only sophomore of the group, Battenfield, a 6-foot-4 right-handed pitcher recorded a 27-2 record across four seasons of varsity ball, ending his high school career in Claremont, Okla., with an 11-0 record, 0.22 ERA and 118 strikeouts in just 63 innings. Battenfield made five relief appearances in 2017 as a freshman for the Cowboys.<\/span><\/p>\n

Listed as both a pitcher and an outfielder headed into his freshman season at OSU, Sifrit has the tools to be a threat on the mound and at the plate. In his senior season at Coronado High School in Lubbox, Texas, Sifrit hit posted a .350 batting average with two home-runs, nine doubles, four triples and 30 RBIs all while going 7-2 on the mound and maintaining a 1.42 ERA with 108 strikeouts. The two-way threat was a two-time all-state selection and three-time all-district performer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Milligan is a 5-foot-9-inch utility player who won back-to-back state champions the last two seasons as a junior and senior in Binger, Oklah. Milligan hit .571 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs as a senior on his way to be named a 2017 MaxPreps Small Schools All-American.<\/span><\/p>\n

Infielder Nick Brueser and right-handed pitcher Carson Rudd are the two Stanford Cardinal freshmen that will head to Eau Claire at the start of the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

As his name might suggest, Brueser is a power hitter. He has a long list of accolades coming out of high school, earning three first-team all-State honors in Chandler, Ariz., leading his high school team to three state championships while also winning the national high school home run derby at the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rudd, a 6-foot-5 righty is a two-time pitcher of the year in Agoura Hills, Calif., and held a 10-2 record with a 1.33 ERA his junior year and a 7-3 record with a 1.75 ERA his final year of high school.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rounding out the next wave of roster announcements are Fighting Irish freshmen. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

David LaManna from Saddle River, N.J., earned second team All-American honors from Perfect Game, while being rated the top catcher and the No. 9 overall prospect from New Jersey in 2017 from Perfect Game.<\/span><\/p>\n

Infielder Spencer Meyers rounds out the group. As a two sport athlete in Tampa, Fla., he carried a .332 batting average across four years, playing in exactly 100 games. Listed as an infielder, Myers has already made three starts for the Fighting Irish in the outfield, making him a versatile piece for manager Dale Varsho this summer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This group of seven will join local products Zach Gilles, Zac Stange, Adam LaRock, Tanner Halvorson and Trevor Olson as well as returning players Rudy Rott, Scott Ogrin, Luke Eldred, Nic Ready and Ethan Nichols this summer. The Express are now up to 17 committed players for the 2018 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Express begin season number 14 in the Northwoods League on May 29 as they travel to Rochester, Minn. for the season opener against the Rochester Honkers. They continue to La Crosse to take on the Loggers for one game before opening their home schedule at Carson Park on Friday, June 1 versus the La Crosse Loggers. First pitch of the home opener is set at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be followed with a fireworks show.<\/span><\/p>\n
