Duluth, MN –<\/strong> The Eau Claire Express (3-2, 22-19) could not get things started offensively on Sunday afternoon against the Duluth Huskies (3-2, 16-25). While things started to heat up in the later innings, the Express fell to the Huskies by a final of 6-2.<\/p>\n

The Duluth Huskies ran away with the game in the first 6 innings. They scored one run in the 1st<\/sup>, two in the 3rd<\/sup>, one in the 5th<\/sup>, and finally two runs in the 6th<\/sup> inning to go up 6-0.<\/p>\n

Eau Claire attempted a late inning comeback, as two Express runs came in during the top of the 7th<\/sup> inning. Brandon Dieter (Stanford) doubled to lead off the inning. Brock Burton (Grand Canyon) walked and moved Dieter to second. Cole Cabrera (Cal Poly) had a 2 RBI double that plated both Dieter and Burton and put the Express on the board. This 6-2 score held as the final.<\/p>\n

Craig Colen (Cal Poly) got the start for the Express and took the loss. Though he pitched quickly and overall effectively, the Huskies capitalized on a few mistake pitches. Colen went 6.0 innings and gave up 6 runs, 4 being earned. Rece Finck (Illinois-Springfield) was fantastic for 2.0 innings, not allowing a run or a hit. Finck walked one and struck out one.<\/p>\n

Cole Cabrera had a nice day at the play, going 2-4 with the two RBIs. Brandon Dieter also went 2-4 and scored a run.<\/p>\n
