\n\tBATTLE CREEK, MI- In the Dock Spiders (20-25) inaugural trip to Michigan, Fondy dropped their opener on a close contest to the Battle Creek Bombers (26-18) by a final score of 4-3.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAdam Eck started for the Dock Spiders and pitched 4 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen Eck exited, the Bombers had a 3-0 lead and were cruising thanks to starter Jared Middleton. In his last start, Middleton threw 7 no hit innings as the Bombers, as a team, no hit the Madison Mallards. Middleton picked up where he left off from his last start and tosses his first 5 innings and only allowed two hits.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Dock Spiders would finally get to the starter in the 6th inning. On an error and a single from Andrew Bullock, the Dock Spiders cut the lead to 3-2. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tWith the score still 3-2 entering the 8th inning, Eric Gilgenbach, who played for Battle Creek in 2016, delivered a game-tying single that knotted the game up at 3-3. Gilgenbach finished his return to Battle Creek 2-3 with an RBI and a walk. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, Battle Creek would break the tie a half inning later on an Aaron Antonini single. Battle Creek would escape with the victory after striking out the side in the Dock Spiders' 9th inning.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGame two of the series is tonight<\/span> at 6:00 CST<\/span>. \n<\/p>\n
