{"id":1319,"date":"2017-11-07T05:05:01","date_gmt":"2017-11-07T11:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/fond-du-lac-dock-spiders\/?p=1319"},"modified":"2018-06-17T10:30:56","modified_gmt":"2018-06-17T15:30:56","slug":"charbonneau-returns-dock-spiders-field-manager-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/fond-du-lac-dock-spiders\/2017\/11\/07\/charbonneau-returns-dock-spiders-field-manager-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Charbonneau Returns as Field Manager for 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\">FOND DU LAC, WI \u2013 The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders are excited to announce that Zac Charbonneau will be returning as field manager in 2018.\u00a0 Charbonneau led the Dock Spiders to a 38-34 record in the team\u2019s inaugural season this past year.\u00a0 The team ended the season on a six-game winning streak and tied for a playoff spot but unfortunately missed out on the postseason due to a tiebreaker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\">\u201cZac did a tremendous job building the roster and fielding a competitive team day in and day out,\u201d said Ryan Moede, the team\u2019s general manager.\u00a0 \u201cHe has a passion for helping players improve, and it really shows on the field.\u00a0 We are looking forward to having Zac lead our team in 2018.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\">Charbonneau is currently the assistant coach at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois.\u00a0 Prior to coming to the Dock Spiders, he was the manager of the Springfield Sliders of the Prospect League in 2016 and led the team to the best record in the league.\u00a0 The season was capped off with him being named 2016 Prospect League Manager of the Year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\" style=\"vertical-align: baseline\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">\u201cI am honored\u00a0<\/span>with the opportunity to coach\u00a0the Dock Spiders again.\u00a0Although, we came up just\u00a0short\u00a0in year one, it was a memorable first season.\u00a0 <span class=\"normaltextrun\">W<\/span>e are already working hard at building another\u00a0roster that will\u00a0compete and entertain every night\u201d<span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span>said Charbonneau.\u00a0 \u201c<span class=\"normaltextrun\">The Northwoods League has a college summer ball experience second to none, and Fond du Lac is a perfect fit for\u00a0<\/span>it.\u00a0We felt strong\u00a0support in the community and it showed as our fans were\u00a0some of the\u00a0most passionate in the league.\u00a0 <span class=\"normaltextrun\">We are\u00a0definitely looking forward to spending another summer here next year.<\/span><span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span>\u201d<span class=\"eop\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\">The Dock Spiders will open their 2018 season in late May.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/fond-du-lac-dock-spiders\/tickets\/season-tickets\/\">Season tickets and ticket packages are currently available for next year<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;background: white\">The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.\u00a0The 24-year old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 20 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 180 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including two-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champion Ben Zobrist (CHC) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET), Curtis Granderson (LAD) and Lucas Duda (TBR).\u00a0All league games are viewable live via the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/portal.stretchinternet.com\/nwl\/\"><span style=\"color: #428bca\">Northwoods League portal<\/span><\/a>.
