The contests will raise money to send young amputee children to a life changing camp, fund important amputee related medical research, provide medical equipment to veterans, and allow America&#8217;s favorite team to compete, inspire and educate children, veterans and families all around the country.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/woundedwarrioramputeesoftballteam.org\/\">The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team<\/a>\/USA Patriots Softball is a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to inspire and educate others while enhancing the health and welfare of Wounded Warrior Amputees. They are not affiliated with other Wounded Warriors charities. Since the inception of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team, over 85% of their donations have supported programs helping Wounded Warrior Amputees, amputee children, and medical research.<\/p>\n<p>WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball is comprised of young, competitive, athletic veterans and active duty soldiers who have lost limbs. The team includes individuals with a variety of amputations &#8211; of the arm, above knee, below knee, bilateral below knee, and foot. Their goal is to support and honor our soldiers and veterans sacrifices, and to show other amputees and everyone who sees or hears about us that life without a limb is limitless.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can\u2019t wait to host the WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball team here in Fond du Lac,&#8221; said Ryan Moede, Fond du Lac Dock Spiders General Manager. &#8220;This is going to be a great event for the entire community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am beyond proud that Fond du Lac has again chose to host WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball.\u00a0 I grew up here and have been overwhelmed with the amount of support shown to the team,\u201d said Josh Wege, WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball Chairman of the Board.\u00a0 \u201cThis community embodies the definition of patriotism every time the team comes to town.\u00a0 WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball comes to Wisconsin once this year so I encourage everyone to come down to Marian University\u2019s Herr-Baker Field and watch.\u00a0 This team provides a story of hope and perseverance that is unparalleled.\u00a0 Thank you to the Fond du Lac community and the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders organization for hosting us once again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first game on August 11 is a seven-inning game between WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball and the Fond du Lac Fire Department. It will start at Noon. After the completion of the first game, there will be a Home Run Derby.\u00a0 The second game of the doubleheader will start at 3:00 PM and will be a seven-inning game that pits WWAST\/USA Patriots Softball against the Fond du Lac Police Department.\u00a0 Following this game, Mozart\u2019s Cadillac will be playing in the Dockyard, along the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> base line.<\/p>\n<p>Admission is free for the event and gates will open at 11:00AM.\u00a0 Food and Beverage will be available for purchase and no carry-ins will be allowed.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Entering its 25th anniversary season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 20 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 185 former Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (TOR). \u00a0All league games are viewable live via the\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/portal.stretchinternet.com\/nwl\/\"><em>Northwoods League portal<\/em><\/a><em>.
