DULUTH, MN- The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders captured their first ever Northwoods League Title with a 4-3 win over the Duluth Huskies.<\/p>\n

Fond du Lac was led by their pitching once again which was started by their starting pitcher Peyton Sanderlin (Christian Brothers).\u00a0<\/strong>Sanderlin went for 5 2\/3 allowing three runs and dishing five strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Fondy would go up 1-0 in the 4th when Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss)<\/strong>\u00a0drove home a runner from second with a base hit into right field. Zabowski finished the postseason going 9 for 24 with three doubles, and six RBI.<\/p>\n

The Huskies were able to answer back tacking on two runs giving them a 2-1 lead after four innings.<\/p>\n

After\u00a0Alex Henwood (Nebraska)\u00a0<\/strong>led things off in the 6th with his first single on the night, he would push over to third with a\u00a0Cole Zabowski (Ole Miss)\u00a0<\/strong>double two batters later. Henwood would come into score on a sacrifice fly from Andrew Bullock (Western Carolina)\u00a0<\/strong>tying the ball game at 2-2. Once again however, Duluth would come right back and regain the lead 3-2 after six innings.<\/p>\n

Alex Henwood (Nebraska)<\/strong> would prove to be the hero for Fondy in the 7th when he sent home two runs with second hit of the ball game giving the Spiders a 4-3 lead.<\/p>\n

Fond du Lac was able to get out of the 8th inning with the Huskies leading the bases loaded. Michael Hope (Shippensburg)<\/strong> would pick up the save throwing for 1 2\/3 with one strikeout.<\/p>\n

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders finished the season 43-31 and will be taking the Northwoods League Championship trophy to the Fondy Faithful.<\/p>\n
