{"id":2272,"date":"2019-02-19T10:43:55","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T16:43:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/fond-du-lac-dock-spiders\/?p=2272"},"modified":"2019-04-10T17:02:19","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T22:02:19","slug":"nwl-foundation-to-award-youth-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/fond-du-lac-dock-spiders\/2019\/02\/19\/nwl-foundation-to-award-youth-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"NWL Foundation To Award Youth Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOND DU LAC, WI &#8211; The Northwoods League Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves as a vehicle to transform a shared passion for baseball into positive change and support for communities, will be awarding twenty-two (22) equipment grants, each with an approximate retail value of $2500, to youth baseball and softball organizations across the twenty-two (22) communities in which a Northwoods League Affiliate currently operates.\u00a0 The Northwoods League Foundation has announced that one youth baseball organization in the Fond du Lac area will be awarded this year\u2019s equipment grant as part of the Share the Glove Program.<\/p>\n<p>The grant is a standardized set of Rawlings equipment, sized for youth ages 9-12. Each grant includes:<\/p>\n<p>Baseball Grant<br \/>\n(2) Sets of Catcher\u2019s Gear\u00a0(helmet, chest protector, shin guards, mitt)<br \/>\n(8) batting helmets<br \/>\n(10) fielding gloves (8 right, 2 left)<br \/>\n(1) bucket of practice baseballs<br \/>\n(6) bats (1-28\u201d, 2-29\u201d, 2-30\u201d, 1-31\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to receive the grant:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organization qualifies as a 501(c)(3) organization, school or school-based program, or community-based organization <em>as defined under US IRC section 501(c)(3)<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>Organization is not an individual, for-profit business, political, or religious organization;<\/li>\n<li>Organization provides opportunities for kids ages 9-12 to play baseball within a community that is served by a Northwoods League affiliate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualifying youth baseball organizations within Fond du Lac and the surrounding communities must complete the grant application <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/fond-du-lac-dock-spiders\/share-the-glove-program\/\">here at dockspiders.com<\/a> by March 31<sup>st<\/sup> to be considered by the Northwoods League Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The Dock Spiders open their season on the road against the Kalamazoo Growlers on Tuesday, May 28<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The first home game will be played on Saturday, June 1st\u00a0at 6:35PM against the Lakeshore Chinooks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders have several great ticket options for our fans for the upcoming 2019 season. The 25-year old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
