Pitching strong early; Booyah hit two home runs in Opener

Ashwaubenon, WI – The Green Bay Booyah created fireworks in the fifth inning, but fell short in the end as they lost 10-5 to Wisconsin Rapids on opening night.

The fifth inning was the best of the night for the Booyah, starting with a two-run home run by Combined Locks native, Grant Emme. Emme finished the day 2 for 5 and drove in three of the five runs for the Booyah on opening night. The only home run came off the bat of returner Brady West, a no-doubter over the right field wall the put the Booyah in front 5-3.

The pitching woes in the 8th and 9th innings were the thorn in the side of Green Bay. Wisconsin Rapids struck for seven of their 10 runs in the final two innings, including a three-run triple by Jacob Henderleider in the ninth. Henderleider finished the day with five of the ten runs driven in.

Chandler Ingram was hung with the loss, while Chris McElvain picking up the first victory of the year for the Rafters. The two teams meet again tomorrow night at Witter Field, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Logan Lee will make his first start of the year against Louisville junior Glenn Albanese.
