Frogs take on South Division Leaders
Green Bay, Wis- Despite last night’s back and forth battle against the Mallards, the Bullfrogs fall short losing the matchup 5-7. This drops the Bullfrogs to 1-7 during the second half of the season. Tonight, the Bullfrogs travel to Wisconsin Rapids to face off against the South Division leaders for the last time at Witter Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05p.m..
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters dropped last night’s game against the Battle Creek Bombers 4-11. During the second half of the Northwoods League season, the Rafters have a 5-2 record and are still sitting at the top of the South Division Standings. The Rafters have bested the Bullfrogs in all of their matchups this season, however, the Frogs have been inching closer each game. With this final series, the Bullfrogs look to get their first win against the Rafters.
Last Night, Ben Hart (Oakland University) was selected as the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Game. Hart went 2-3 last night hitting a homerun, 4 RBIs, and was walked once. Hart has played in 35 games this season. He has racked up 29 hits, three doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 13 RBIs. Hart sports a .236 batting average.
Riley Smith was the other Bullfrog to have a multi-game hit last night. Smith had two hits with one RBI and one walk. During this season Smith has played in 14 games and is leading the Bullfrogs with the .327 batting average.
On the mound tonight for the Bullfrogs is Matt Goytia. It will be Goytia’s second appearance for the Bullfrogs this year.
Pitching tonight for the Rafters is right-handed pitcher Quinn DiPasquale. DiPasquale has a 5-1 record this season and sports a 2.67 ERA. In his 40.1 innings, he has posted 39 strikeouts, 11 walks and 30 hits.
