Bullfrogs Head into All-Star Break with Win

Wis-The Green Bay Bullfrogs hold on this time against the Lakeshore Chinooks, winning 6-5 at home in Joannes Stadium. The Bullfrogs improve to 3-9 on the second half of the season and the Chinooks fall to 7-5. Jake Esp is the winning pitcher for the Bullfrogs and he got the save as well. Nick Campe is the losing pitcher for the Chinooks. Bullfrogs pitchers got the Frogs out of some jams throughout the night as the Frogs would leave 17 Chinooks on base.

The Bullfrogs would plate the first run of the game in the first inning, off of an Alex Pener RBI single that scored Mikey Filia.  Neither team would score after that until the fourth inning, that’s when both teams managed to plate a run. Riley Smith would hit a RBI single for the Bullfrogs giving them a 2-1 lead scoring Mikey Filia. In the sixth inning the Chinooks would tie it up 2-2, but, the Bullfrogs would swing right back. In the bottom of the sixth, Zack Plunkett managed to hit his third home run of the season giving the Bullfrogs the 3-2 lead. The Chinooks would respond with two runs in the seventh, both runs were walked in by Bullfrogs pitchers, giving the Chinooks the 4-3 lead. The Frogs continued to strike back as in the seventh, Tanner Poole would hit a RBI triple that scored Dan Leckie, tying the game. The Bullfrogs would take a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Troy Johnston hit a RBI single that scored Mikey Filia for the third time and Kyle Benyo managing a RBI. The Chinooks would get one back against the Bullfrogs but fall short as the Bullfrogs would come away with the 6-5 win.  

The Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Game is Zack Plunkett. Plunkett managed his third home run of the season and had a multi-hit day for the Frogs. Plunkett’s stat line tonight: 2-4, 2 H, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 runners caught stealing.

The Bullfrogs are off for the next three days because of the 2017 All-Star Game in Wausau Wisconsin. The Bullfrogs All-Star Brad Hamilton will not be able to attend the event. The Bullfrogs will be represented by Kyle Benyo who will be participating in the Home Run Derby. Mike Ramazzotti will be throwing to Benyo in the contest. The Frogs will be back in action on Thursday when they face off against the Battle Creek Bombers.
