Bullfrogs Have Won Eight of Last Eleven

The Green Bay Bullfrogs win in Madison tonight 6-1. The Bullfrogs would take advantage of a five-run inning and some great pitching. The Bullfrogs improve to 11-20 on the season and the Madison Mallards drop to 16-17 on the season. Winning pitcher tonight for the Bullfrogs is Matt Goytia. Goytia had a great game for the Bullfrogs snagging his first win of the season.

The Bullfrogs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Riley Smith would come across to score off of a Troy Johnston RBI single. Both teams would remain scoreless until the top of the third when the Bullfrogs would come to life. Connor Bagnieski got on base with an error, Willie Bourbon would be walked and Riley Smith would hit a two-RBI double giving the Bullfrogs a 3-0 lead. Troy Johnston would score Riley Smith with a RBI single and Zack Plunkett would hit a two-RBI single bringing the Bullfrogs ahead to 6-0. Both teams would not score a run until the seventh inning as both teams managed some solid pitching after the break out inning. The Mallards would plate a run in the seventh inning off of a balk against Goytia and that would be the lone run he allowed. Ethan Evanko came into pitch the ninth inning for the Bullfrogs and put the Mallards down in order.

The Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Night is Matt Goytia. Goytia was also named the Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night. Goytia pitched seven and two-thirds innings for the Bullfrogs allowing just one run and five hits. Goytia’s stat line: 7.2 IP, 1 R, 2 K, 6 BB, 5 H and the WIN

The Bullfrogs return home tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Kalamazoo Growlers. The Bullfrogs will resume game one in the top of the second, with runners on the corners, no outs, and a 0-0 game at 5:05 pm. The Bullfrogs will complete that game then play a seven inning game against the Growlers following the first game. Will Gilbert will be on the mound to start the first game and Michael Bohlke is the starter for the second game.
