Bullfrogs wrap-up home series with Dock Spiders
Green Bay, WI — The Green Bay Bullfrogs (13-28, 1-4) commence the seventh week of the 2018 regular season, concluding the two-game series with the visiting Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (23-17, 2-3) at Joannes Stadium Monday evening. The Bullfrogs dropped a tough 7-6 decision to Fond du Lac Sunday afternoon as the Dock Spiders rallied from a three-run deficit, posting a four-run eighth inning to complete the comeback victory after trailing 6-3. First pitch for tonight’s contest is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
Adrian Damla (Sophomore, UC Irvine) currently holds the longest active hit streak for the Bullfrogs at 10 games entering tonight’s contest. Damla is 15-for-34 (.441) in the stretch with two doubles, two triples and seven RBIs, while holding a .385 total average this season.
Matthew Acosta (Sophomore, USC) continues to remain scorching hot at the dish, tallying a seven-game hit streak in his first eight games with Green Bay. Acosta also has posted at least one RBI in four straight contests. The USC Trojan bats .313 with 10 hits, one double, one triple, two home runs and six RBIs.
Alejandro Gonzalez (Freshman, Hillsborough CC) rides a four-game hit streak, hitting an impressive .571 (8-for-14) in the stretch with one double and two runs driven in. Gonzalez raises his average up to .281 with 18 hits, two doubles, one triple and four RBIs.
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders are among the best all-around statistical teams in the Northwoods League, ranking third in the league in team batting average (.274) and ERA (3.62). The Dock Spiders have hit .304 as a team in their last 10 games with three home runs on 109 hits and 42 RBIs.
Fond du Lac is 4-1 against Green Bay this summer after its narrow one-run triumph yesterday afternoon. The Bullfrogs lone victory against the Dock Spiders this season came on June 27 as the Frogs posted a 5-0 win. Fond du Lac was shut-out for only the second time this season.
Alex Erro currently rides an impressive 15-game hit streak entering tonight’s game. Erro bats .357 with 30 hits, three doubles, one home run and a team-leading 20 RBIs. Jack Wassel holds a six-game hit streak going 10-for-23 (.434) in the span. Wassel hits for a .377 average with 23 hits, five doubles and eight runs driven in.
Tonight’s Starting Pitcher
Green Bay right-hander Hugh Chapman (Freshman, Georgia Tech) is slated to make his fifth start and sixth overall appearance on the mound tonight. Chapman is 2-2 with a 6.35 ERA through 17 innings of work and 11 strikeouts.
After starting the season 0-2 in his first two starts, Chapman is 2-0 and has a no-decision in his last three outings. Chapman posted a season-high four strikeouts through a season-best five innings on June 28 at Kenosha, allowing two earned runs on six hits.
